What are you doing right now??

Finished up the dog walks for the day. It was beautiful. For some reason I started to think about Xmas 1971. I was in a place that nobody wanted to be and everything wanted to kill us. Of course I was in the infantry at the time and it was the first time I was away from my family. I was also very young, actually too young to serve if they found out the truth. At the time it was miserable but looking back it really wasn't that bad. We were all dumb and young and being thrown into our situation I feel made us better persons. I volunteered but most were drafted. We all learned a lot about each other that Christmas and learned to appreciate our lives. I hope it made a lasting memory on the others, I know it did for me. I spent several years away from family during the holidays in my military career but that particular situation has left a lasting impression on me.

Just finished using Sous Vide to cook up a bunch of NY Strip steak.

pretty much all day long, if i or we were not out shopping for the last minute stuff, like gift cards for the adults, to stocking stuffers for the little ones, we or i, was shopping for some food items.

the wife and i will be going for presents opening, lite breakfast, (usually muffins, bagels, lots of coffee, sometimes donuts as well) then the meal, all at our eldest daughters home.

we like watching the little ones, tear open the gifts, and pout when they get clothing, what joy thier disappointment in what they get, brings to nearly all of us.
