Just purchased a 1967 Colt 1911 .45

22 years helicopter naval aviation
saratoga ships company and a whole bunch of tins cans and a few carriers short and long stop overs
when i found this 1911 i was google eyed as it sat in this old shop for number of years as the guy bought it from a shop that closed
still have the mail box it was delivered in, plus the wall hanging display and the excellent wood grips
put pacmyre grips on it and its a range queen my wife shoots it like its an extension of her hand
it was one smooth 1911
a few guys at range freaked out as its a commiserative edition
yada yada
then others are entranced with its beauty
my wife took it over .

Nice! I intend on shooting mine as well. Is that a rampant colt on the Pachmayr grips?

Don't know year but it's a Vindicator. Has factory fired brass and printed factory target.

i believe so
the store i bought the pistol from, had it in the box from colt, so i assumed it came with the pistol..later found out they did not
but they fit very well and all my 1911s have em now

i first thought it was a Ferrari horse

If you shoot it, I would replace the grips first. They get very brittle with age. Great looking iron!

Be aware that those plastic grips, known as Coltwood, have also been known to shrink with age. If you take them off, they may be very difficult to get back on. If they go back at all.

I've hears that being aged, they may crack when used gain after so long due to recoil. I'm considering some rubberized clones of the original which were made by Colt, found some NOS on Ebay. Or, might go with NOS old series 70 1911 wood grips with the gold rampant colt.

Not an EEA WIndicator? I'm not sure those came in a 40. I'd be interested to see exactly what you've got there.

I'm waiting for a answer to set time to meet I know Charter Arms made one also. I hope I find the 41 as I would be much happier and I already have loading equipment from when I had 2 of them years ago. Only time will tell along with pocket book.
