New P7

There have been rumors for a few years of a new made HK P7 clone. Its called the P7PRO. Theres supposed to be a 8 shot, like the original P7M8 version and a P7M13 version, that uses the original 13 round mags and a new 15 round mag. The 8 shot version is available now with the 13 round version coming in the second quarter of 2026. I have to admit Im interested but the $2500 price tag is holding me back.

I owned a P7M13 about 100 years ago. It was super cool but has a very unique manual of arms. It really has to be the ONLY gun you train with in order the carry/use it safely. Back in the old days I tried it in a IPSC match. It did great in the first stage of stationary shooting BUT in the running and gunning phase, squeezing (to cock) and releasing (for safe) wasnt a natural feeling. I ended up blowing the course when I couldnt get it to fire because I didnt squeeze to cock it after running and dropping to a prone position. THATS on me; its a training issue BUT going between a SA and DA/SA is simple compared to the P7.

Shooting wise, its sweet, the low bore access makes recoil feel minimal and the fixed barrel makes it more accurate. Plus its slim (even the M13 version), making concealment easy

Any interest in P7s here?

Im a little disappointed at his price point. I would buy TWO if he had them in the $1500 or less range; but starting a $2500 gives me pause AND makes me wonder if I want one so bad, why dont I just buy a real HK, at least a real HK will retain some value.

I knew a guy who makes custom guitars. By all accounts they are really nice. I inquired about buying one and he told me, he was 2-3 years out on orders. He said hes able to keep the price high because he only makes a few each year (NOT because if he made more the quality would suffer).

Im no economist; but both those products seem like poor business plans. The HK knockoff is always gonna be a knockoff to the HK fanboyz types. As for the guitar, limiting sales to keep the price high meant that lots of folks never got to use one/say how great they are and by extension-make money by SELLING MORE.

I want one its, hard to justify that much; but what do I know....

Me. I have two. Love em. I tapered off carrying them after they were discontinued and parts got more scarce.

When I shot IDPA regularly, I usually shot a 1911 or HiPower, since that’s what I almost always carried. Once a year, I’d shoot a P7 because I was still carrying one now and then.
Even though I shot a P7 the least, that would always be my best match of the year.
