My method of starting a fire…..

I heat my house with wood. Even though it's under ideal conditions it's still practice.

One thing I found since we moved out here dryer lint makes wonderful tinder for a fire. Every time we dry a load of clothes the lint goes right into the Kindling Box next to the stove.

I keep one of these and small can of Sterno in my get home bag.

I have a ferro rod and I know how to use it but I also have Life Boat matches and and a couple of lighters in my bag.

I've got a book of Jack London short stories in my library and the very first story in it is "To Start A Fire"

Knowing primitive Fire Starting methods is good but I want to give myself every possible Advantage if I actually have to do it for real

used drier sheets are excellent for fire kindling. I keep a bunch in my pack with the fire starters, etc.
when it snowed in CO during an elk hunt and we were miles from camp, I had good knowledge of how to get a fire started and how to do it in snow covered terrain. thankfully it was not necessary, but I was prepared.
Practice is key. I think once a year, a woodsman, hiker or hunter should practice their skills on starting a fire with your supplies. If the time ever comes to have to depend your life on it, you want to know how to get it going when you are not freezing to death.

Start with five gallons of K-1 and a car tire...................
Sidebar: thread derail ;)
reminded me of a Sitka, AK April Fools joke on the town played by one of the residents.
He snuck up (used a helo) and lit burning tires in the volcano dome and residents awoke seeing smoke and thought there may be an eruption brewing.. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::oops::oops::eek::eek:
