Interpretive Dance

I rehearsed my interpretive dance routine in the living room this morning. It begins with staggering around the room dizzy because I stood up too fast, followed by hopping around on one foot with one leg in my pants, all the while trying to avoid tripping over the dogs in the darkened room. There was a stunning display of coordination when I caught the lamp I nearly knocked over with my stylish flailing about, and ended with exhibition of old man fliexibility while struggling to get my socks and shoes on. Breathless, I collapsed back into my recliner and took a nap. Unfortunately there was no music. Fortunately, there was no video.

You know those stupid "One Weird Trick" advertisements?

I saw one the other day that was this "One Weird Trick" will reduce your chance of breaking your leg by 80% if you're over 65.

Long story short, the "One Weird Trick" was sit down to put your pants on.

I never saw it again but I'm wondering if it wasn't like a serious advertisement and they put that one weird trick thing in there for fun. Anyway, I put my pants on sitting down

I'm going to say this for what it's worth. The whole idea of that commercial was that you go to put on your pants and you get off balance and you fall and actually I think it was your hip that you break but not your leg.

And I get off balance almost every time I try to put my pants on standing up. So it takes me a second to sit down on a chair and get my legs started in the pants and then stand up and pull them up.

The point I'm making here is if it really will stop us older folks from a broken hip why not do it?

I have to sit on the side of the bed while getting dressed. That's shorts, pants, shirt, socks and shoes. I still have major vertigo problems from the underwater explosion that nearly killed me in 2006 when I was still a commercial diver. Not that I drink and drive, but if I was ever pulled over for a sobriety test, I would have to tell the officer to give me a breathalyzer test or take me in for a blood test. I cannot physically do most of those tests because of my vertigo issues.

I don't do the HayesGreener 2-step, I've been sitting on my bed to pull trousers on since I was a teen (except when hastily exiting the girlfriends' bedroom(s) when Mom & Dad got home early)

Next time just post a vid to YouTube.
