The Smith & Wesson Revolver Model No. 3

I have a Schofield re-issue from S&W that it is a great shooter. Shot it quite a bit in CAS matches. I think it was superior to the 1873 Colt for handling on horseback

They screwed up by not making the originals in 45 Colt. It caused ammo supply issues. Otherwise it was a great gun

On a side note:
I wish someone would make a DA/SA break open revolver
They couldn't make it .45 LC because Colt had the patent. Schofield ammo worked in Colts. For a while they did issue .45 Schofield ammo to units with Colts to standardize ammo.

Yes I think I read that; but the problem was the guys with the Schofield getting 45 Colt ammo. IDK this could have been something some gun writer blew out of proportion and it keeps coming up way beyond the actual issue

As for the Webley, yes, the last of the breed. I recall talk of a Detonics proposed Beak Open revolver in the 80s but it never materialized.

The Break Open design seems like it would make a good self defense weapon for ban states especially with moon clips
