Range Day! And the Elusive Green Dot - 19 Feb 26

Lab4Us

Professional
Headed to the range this morning for my weekly therapy. Decided to take my Staccato C24 again as I was 225 rounds short of 1000 down range on it AND I took off the RMR HD and replaced it with an EPS Carry 6MOA green dot like I have on my CZ S2 Carry. 150 rounds of Winchester NATO 124g FMJ, 60 rounds of American Eagle 124g FMJ, and 15 rounds of Federal Premium Tactical 124g HST (to update my carry rounds).

First order of business was to check my front sight as all information provided indicated a shorter front sight would be needed if using a CH plate with an EPS Carry on a Staccato C24. Top left circle instantly verified that with first five rounds. Next order of business was zeroing the EPS Carry. Top right, then middle left to right, then bottom left to right, five rounds at a time got me there, or at least close enough. You can probably tell where I lost my minds and went right instead of left :ROFLMAO: . I do my zeroing off hand. All at 7 yards.

Then I just kept going at it, same target, same order of circles, five rounds at a time for another 60 rounds, though a little faster.

Next up, I had to settle for a fun target since Vital Dude and Tactical Dude were nowhere to be found. Thought I’d shoot a little pool. Object was to shoot 1-7, then 8, or 9-15, then 8. Shoot at said pool ball until you hit it. I just did one after the other, 7 yards. Still working through the Winchester NATO 124g FMJ.

Then I just kept going until I depleted the Winchester NATO 124g FMJ.

Next it was time to check the EPS Carry zero with my carry ammo. I used 60 rounds of AE 124g FMJ, then finished with the 15 rounds of 124g HST I’d been carrying for a while. The HST rounds went into the center right and bottom right circles (since before shooting the HST, I hadn’t hit the bullseye so it gave me something to aim for.

All in all another good range day. Only thing I didn’t like was that it felt like I was “chasing the dot” a lot, something I don’t do on the CZ S2 Carry with exact same RDS. Not sure if window just seemed too small on the wider frame or if the taller front sight was throwing me off. I had 775 rounds on this gun before today, so very used to where to point it. I’ve pretty much decided to take off the EPS Carry and either to with something bigger, window wise and not requiring a new front sight, or just putting the cover plate with original rear sight back on and calling it a day. Whenever I get around to it .

Honestly, I tried the dot on my hellcat when I first got it, just couldn’t get it, took it off and just use the irons. Good job!

Hi,

What? No Tactical Dude? Still, nice work on the targets. The pool game looks fun.

You bring up an interesting point. I just put the exact same Holosun on my Echelon as I have on my Mod.3. There's no co-witness on the Mod.3 because the adapter plate is too thick. There is no plate on the Echelon so the stock iron sights will co-witness. We'll see if that gives me issue. I hope to get out tomorrow with both optic pistols. I have to zero the Echelon. It should be an interesting day at the range. Thanks for sharing yours.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
