Testing Hollywood: Michael Mann’s Collateral

Not a fan of Tom Cruise, or his acting ... I have not seen Collateral. But it is well known that in the John Wick films, that Keanu Reeves, trained mercilessly with actual firearms, and does an exceptional job firing only available shots from the magazines (though would have to be an exceptional shot, to off as many bad guys as he does in each film.

I'm not much of a Tom Cruise fan in real life, but I have enjoyed many of his films. He goes full cartoon hero in the MI franchise (although some of the action is solid, even in those), but Collateral is pretty solid as the author points out. I will say this for Mr. Cruise, he is relentless in his preparation as well as his pursuit of top-notch filmmaking. The man is great at what he does.

My opinion? Our world needs to throttle back to a place where we can disagree without building our barricades and launching the boiling oil from our trebuchets.

I still recall that scene from Risky Business when his dad's Porsche ended up in the lake (Erie?). And after getting it towed to the shop (dealership?) the guy comes out and says, "So, who's the U-boat commander?" 😂
