DON'T INVADE THE USA

Freedom isn't free.jpg

Maybe I missed it but the article seems like it's behind some kind of paywall where you have to download an app to read it. Not interested.

ETA: I reread this and it almost sounds like I'm trying to slam somebody and I want to make it really clear that I'm not.

I already said I didn't read the article because I didn't want to download the app. So what I'm about to rant about may not even be in the article.

But usually stories like this reference a quote supposedly attributed to Admiral Isoruko Yamamoto

"You cannot invade the mainland United States because there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass."

The problem is that nobody's ever been able to Source the quote. According to everything I read it is supposedly taken from the Gordon Prange files but nobody's been able to document exactly where in the Gordon Prange files it was.

Historically, it's pretty much accepted that Japan's only intent in attacking Pearl Harbor was to knock the US carrier Fleet out of the war so they could consolidate their gains in Asia.

Even if Japan had intended to invade the mainland United States they didn't have the logistical support to maintain a 3,000 Mi long supply chain.

That's one of the reasons they trying to take ground in Asia for access to Natural Resources that did not exist in Japanese islands.

So unless you can show me a direct source I don't believe the "Rifle behind every blade of grass" quote ever actually happened.

All that said, I would like to point out that when the Japanese invaded Attu and Dutch Harbor Alaskan Territorial Guard which was a Citizen's militia, was called up and participated in the battle.

At the risk of someone thinking I am calling their baby ugly I am not
But egos might not like this.

There are a lot of feel good things regurgitated throughout history. It’s all BS usually.

And (this is the baby I’m not saying is ugly) just like the loud American that boasts open carry and armed society is polite that’s toral BS and if they spent anytime around real urban inner city gang bangers they know it’s BS

Have the peolme gaht are seemed are not prepared to use it and it’s a security blanket only. Just like you won’t have across the board minuteman these days kine in the 1700. It’s dress up cosplay for most wether LEO’s or range Vet Bros. .

An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.

The quote is from a book called Beyond This Horizon.

NGL it was kind of a dumb book.

The book was about a Society broken up into a genetically engineered upper class and a lower class made up of what they called "Control Naturals" who were not genetically modified but were kept around I don't remember the exact explanation but I think it was to keep recessive traits in the upper class genetically modified stock.

Speaking of genetically modified super babies...

Anyway the upper class basically live forever unless somebody killed them and developed a rigid Code Duello, which was essentially a rigid code of etiquette that if any member of the upper class stepped outside of they could be challenged to a duel.

That's where the phrase "An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life" came from. The intent was you adhere to the code of etiquette and stay within Societal Norms or somebody's going to call you out and kill you.

It had nothing to do with the concept that there would be less crime if everybody was armed

Different but good article none the less.

I live in an area of ultra conservative country folk and one of the most densely populated counties with active duty and retired military in the country. Virtually everyone here is armed and hunts and almost everyone has some semblance of a battle rifle. We have plenty folks in our cities who would run and hide at the first sign of hostilities, but most would stand and fight abd a lot of them have in our wars.

With all that said, I am nowhere near as concerned with foreign invaders as I am with the threat from within. If you read Saul Alinsky's book Rules for Radicals, one of his postulates is to attack and diminish those with the guns-until you are the one with the guns.

Buy ammo. Teach your children and grandchildren about firearms. I fear they will need them, whichever direction the threat comes from.

What I ment to say was half the people that carry as well as those with the full kit that think they are modern minutemen aren't as prepared as they think and won’t react at all. A lot are cosplay at best
You may be surprised at who your allies are and the skills they possess when the time arrives, not everyone advertises their particular skill set that may not involve combat. Medical, communications, mechanics. Modern minutemen wear many different clothes. You never know until you know.
