Up here it's coming around to the days where the sun will still be up when I have to go to bed 😒. Thankful for the black out curtains in my bedroom. Around June it's still dusk at 10PM, and I don't mind that on the weekends 😎. Also thankful that I don't have to do those graveyard shifts that would actually either be 11 hours or 13, depending on the season.

Some atates like FL argue its because the kids at the school bus stop would be standing in the dark waiting for their buses. Particulary the middle school age and younger. Safety issue. I get it. I dont agree thouh.

Middle schooler here in N tx got killed last year crossing the street to the school in the dark.
Uhhh…Florida.

I am not a morning person and much prefer the extra sunlight in the evening. Combine that with the sunshine that perpetually shines out of my butt and you realize that life as me is pretty amazing!

Do people up there put aluminum foil on their bedroom windows to block out sun like they did in Alaska?

Florida passed the Sunshine Protection Act in 2018 to make DST permanent, but it requires federal approval to implement. Something to do with commerce, airline schedules, etc. The time changes were implemented during WWI as an energy saving measure but modern day benefits, if any, are minimal. Sleep disruption of school age kids due to the change outweighs any benefit in my book.

In spring and fall it was helpful on the farm. When getting out of school and home by 3:30-4 my dad put me to work those late afternoon hours. We also started school later than many other schools for example TN, and western NC; eastern NC school started about 3 weeks later . I was told it was agricultural. Tobacco was the crop we were all trying to get to auction.

atates…..atates……🤔🤔

Not this far south…although you may find the odd window foiled. It was a common thing when I lived up in Cold Lake, Alberta though.
I often told the crazies to put foil on their windows to deflect the microwaves being beamed at them by tha aliens. You gotta stop the voices. It sometimes calmed them and they would stop calling for a while. But blocking the sunlight is why he's asking about foil, right?

When I lived in London it was dusk at 10:30 pm in the summer which I loved. However, daylight came at 4:15 am along with the birds who liked to taunt me for hours until I reluctantly rolled out of bed.
