I just saw an article about some whiskey at $6,000 bottle. Yeh, that's a 6, comma, and 3 zeros, six thousand dollars. Who in their right mind would spend $6k for a bottle of hootch, even if they could afford it? Five grand maybe, but six thousand is crazy!!! I've bought whole weekends with wild women, great whiskey, and good times for less than that!!! Lol!:rolleyes:;)

Folks that make millions, a $6000 is no biggie. They go quick.
I have sold about 30 bottles in the $4000-8000 range in last 2 yrs and about 20 bottles in the $10000-30000 range. 😁

I know, I was trying to be a little facetious and a little sardonic at the same time. I don't begrudge any who can afford it, but it just seem so outrageous. If I were to spend that kind of money on a bottle of whiskey I wouldn't live to drink it ... my heart wouldn't be able to stand the strain. Lol! Generally to us regular folk, good whiskey is good whiskey and there's not a lot of difference between most of them. My country boy palate works well with pork chops, potato salad, and about three fingers of Old #7, and lately I've become accustomed to some Buffalo Trace. It's all good! :)

It all tastes good.
Everything I own is open. Even the $$$$ stuff.
Have killed off a $8000 bottle with my buddies and simon

Once upon a time a great man said to me .....
"Open it
Great bottle
Replaceable. Life is about memories.
Not sealed bottles on the shelf."
As I recall it was back about the end of January in a thread called 'Blanton's Bourbon', and I took him at his word and said I'd be opening that bottle shortly after that. Well, I still haven't opened it, but I'm planning to in a few days. That same nephew who gave it to me will be coming over for a visit on his B-day (Apr 1st fool's day) ... yeh I know, and that's the same thing I told his mama the day he was born, so he and I will share it together that day. I'll post the results as soon as I'm able! Lol!

My idea of "esspensive" booze is Stroh Rum, here in NC it's about 40 bucks a fifth, Heavenly smooth for 160 proof.

Bourbon wise, I've been favoring Old Grand Dad 114.

But give me a competent bar tender that can mix a proper Long Island Iced Tea.............my inner alcoholic comes out wonderfully LOL

Can't say I blame you, even though I've never tried it. Actually never tried any JD other than Ol' #7. But due to your convincing argument of several nights ago, I fully intend to compare it to a bottle (or portion of) of JD Single Barrel Select on the night of April 1st. I'll try to not let it make me an April Fool! ;):D Good lord, I just noticed your bottle is 107 proof!

Im not a JD fan
Their high aged stuff is a different breed But allocated and expensive

I've been enjoying a number of local Oktoberfest beers today; one of my favorite beer styles...got me wondering, what do others enjoy?

I will say, the krauts in New Ulm, MN (Schell's Brewery, one of the longest continuously operating breweries in the US) has the Bavarians beat this year...much better than Paulaner or Haaker-Pschorr...
Tried Yellowfin recently and really liked it. High alcohol like Old English 800 and Miller Highlife make me retch. I like darks such as Guiness Stout. Lioke me some XX and San Miguel too. Ah, heck...toss in a full isle of others as well. :p
