Anyone carry TWO?

I have a… I don’t know… call it a thought exercise for everyone.

As you go about your day tomorrow, at random times, ask yourself “If I needed my carry gun right this second, how easily can I get it?”

Do this from the time you get up until you go back to bed. All day long. Think about this while driving to the store, or watching the grandkids at a sporting event, doing yard work, or just sitting at home watching TV all day. Be fair about it, and don’t do things like second guess it by thinking “But why would I need my gun now?”, just do the exercise.

I’ll check back.
Or just actually Carry the durn gun😏. Mine goes on with my pants in the morning and off with them at night. If I’m up I’m armed. I don’t carry two and only when in certain places carry a spare mag. I DO stay heeled and I watch where I go and pay attention to my surroundings-it’s worked this way for decades see no reason to change. I’m amazed at those who “always carry”, except when they don’t…. To me this is a serious thing. If I only carried when I was going to “need” to be armed I’d simply avoid the places where that need existed and not bother at all. The thing is you DO NOT know when or where a problem may occur. I carry a handgun for the same reason I carry a spare tire. I don’t plan on using either, but I do know how and if I need one, I need it badly and nothing else will do…ymmv

Umm, carrying the gun was part of the exercise.

I know, but I’ve e seen lots of folks come in the gun shop who claim to “always carry”, but the gun is “at home” or “in the truck” that day. Usually those individuals talk about carrying service size pistols & a backup-yet they’re unarmed. To me, it’s not a “game”, either do or don’t, but don’t play at being John Wick yet spend your day unheeded. A J frame actually with you beats hell out of a $4k will combat tuned 1911 that’s NOT with you😏

Carry what you won't miss for 2 years while it's in the evidence locker, I say.
IF its really two years then something wasnt articulated well. VICTIMs guns wont be held for the suspects trial

I refuse to "cheap out on a gun" because the PDE might cease it after a shooting. Id much rather use a $$$$ gun and survive then carry a Hi Point because it might sit in an evidence bin

Agree. Carry the gun you have the most confidence in. That means if you shoot a 1911 in IDPA but carry a Five Shot Snubby, there is a disconnect. If you are only going to carry the snubby, shoot it in IDPA or however you train. Most guys do not shoot a J-Frame much, but it is the one they carry the most because it is so easy.

It is a lifestyle. That is the best, shortest, most succinct description I have heard. I carry a 1911 now that I am retired, because I carried one for decades and it is the platform I shoot the best. I dress around it, inside the waistband, and have for years. I don't wear a T-shirt and jeans or shorts, because that may be comfortable but I can't hide anything dressing that way. My shirts have buttons and collars. I have learned to live with it.

Carry what you'd want to be armed with if you find yourself in an encounter.

If you actually have to use a firearm for self defense, the least important thing to worry about is losing the gun for a couple years. Carry what works for YOU that is 100% reliable and that You can shoot well. If it gets taken for evidence, even if it thereby becomes lost forever, it’s still a dang cheap price to pay for protecting your life or the lives of your loved ones. Things can be replaced, people can’t. Most Americans waste a $1000 or more per year on crap they don’t really need or want anyway-use those $$ to get a replacement if you’re worried about it,
