RVing Locally Because of Fuel

I feel your pain. It is $4.29 for regular here in Florida. For those who would complain about this and what Trump is doing, they need to ask themselves these questions: What do they think would happen if Iran had nukes? If Iran had nukes, and they decided to block off all ships going through the strait with the exception of their buddies ships from China and Russia, just what could anybody do about it? If we are reluctant to directly confront a nuclear armed Russia and China, just what makes them think we would have no problem confronting a nuclear armed Iran? And, just what do they think the price of oil and gas would be in that scenario?

Every single POTUS from Carter to Biden are responsible for Iran, Trump is finally doing what needed to be done decades ago. A friend of mine and I were discussing climate change a while back. He believes in it, and thinks we are contributing to it. He has changed his position somewhat, and he is not a democrat. He is a highly educated, conservative independent. His answer to us drilling for our own oil was "why should we use our own, when we can use up their oil and not have to worry about the environmental impact?" When we last spoke, he was complaining about the price of gas and our involvement over in the Middle East. My response was this: "This is the end result of what people like you believe. We have to be involved over their because we are using their oil. Just what did you think would happen? You all got your wish, now deal with it." There are people in this nation that think like that, and think there is nothing wrong with doing this........until it affects them. They have their own logical ideals of thinking about the world, they never factor in human nature and different philosophies/religious ideals into their models. They say, and truly believe, that they are dealing in "reality and the real world". They are stuck in their own ideological bubble, and are all shocked when that bubble is burst by reality.

I thought I wanted to take tv around country a few years ago. I’m too old to rough it. Lots of affordable hotels with nice large bathrooms and comfy beds .
I’m in the same situation. Gave my RV to my daughter and my boat to my son. Now the wife and I now roam about the country on extended road trips staying in hotels and dining in nice restaurants. No RV tanks to deal with - just stop when we’re tired or hungry.

I live full time in my RV and currently campground Park hosting at state parks, the volunteer position comes with a free full hookup site saving $600-$800 a month for about 24 hours a week of simple non strenuous activities basically cleaning camp sites, campgrounds and bathrooms all being done with supplied proper PPE. It also includes being a park ambassador and helping people enjoy their camping experience.
I still do travel occasionally however my f250 is gas truck and although gas is getting expensive it’s not breaking the bank.

As far as “why” gas prices have spiked I’ll withhold comment on my feelings about this countries administrations decision.

I spent a bit over thirty years working on the road 50-70% of the time, and hotels hold zero appeal to me. I like to KNOW my room is clean and critter free😏. We use our camper about 6 weeks in the spring and another 6 in the fall. On occasion we’ll head south in the winter for a few weeks. Fuel can be pricey but it’s worth it to us. You only come out $$$ when you’re parked for several days between driving sessions.

Folks should realize that...

#1 - There is NO shortage of gas/diesel fuel,

#2 - Oil is a globally price commodity no mater how much excess oil a country like the US is awash in, and because of that,

#3 - If the leader of Saudi Arabia has a tummy ache, the price of oil will go up, or like present, if the ships transporting oil thru the straits are too chicken to pull anchor and set sail on the normal route through the straits with a good chance of getting through, and/or the countries that rely on oil from that part of the country are too chicken to send their own Navy ships to escort said oil tankers through then the price goes up and it effects everyone.

Countries are paying Iran $$ to allow their ships pass by their islands. So why don't we grab those 5 little islands from Iran and stop those ships that are doing business with Iran from going back & forth?

For example, while Iran threatens ships, Iran's own cargo ships are allowed to import rocket fuel from, wait for it....

China is helping Iran reconstitute the Iranian missile program amid US-Israeli efforts to degrade it. The Telegraph reported that five shipments of likely sodium perchlorate, a key precursor for solid missile propellant, have arrived in Iran from China. All the vessels are owned by the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line Group (IRISL), which the United States sanctioned in 2021. Four of the vessels are docked or floating near the port in Chabahar, Sistan and Baluchistan Province, and one of the vessels is docked or near Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Province, according to Starboard Maritime Intelligence. China has previously supplied sodium perchlorate to support Iran’s ballistic missile program. The combined force has targeted several elements of the Iranian ballistic missile program, including missile fuel and solid propellant motor production sites. China’s efforts to help Iran reconstitute could undermine the combined force efforts to degrade or destroy the supporting elements of the ballistic missile program.
