Parents charged for "unsupervised" child at Hershey Park Zoo after child bitten by wolf

Hmmm young parents and cell phones... Im sure that had something to do with the problem; but a fence that a toddler can climb through, doesnt sound like much of a fence to me. Without knowing more I think I could arrange a pretty nice settlement for the KID

Maybe and Im just speculating the park could have put benches closer to the fence so tired adults can sit and their kids can still see.

Again Im not taking any responsibility away from the parents and their cell phone use BUT the park has a responsibility also. They put up a fence, indicating that they "knew" there was a danger BUT they failed to make the fence sufficient to stop a kid and a toddler at that. Which son or nephew at Hershey signed off on that? You either need a FENCE or you DONT.

Here's to the parents being more attentive in the future. . .
Agreed but that doesnt take away the parks responsibility. They charged admission and clearly knew the animals were a potential threat; but they failed to make a fence that would protect kids. Its like putting up a chicken wire fence around a Tyrannosaur

Should the parents have been more attentive ABSOLUTLY but the park bears some responsibility

At least Hershey could give the a lunar calendar to watch for the full moon

I'm sorry, but no. It is not the park's responsibility to babysit the kids. Period. Had they been watching their child, they may have seen the issue and pointed it out to a park employee to fix it. And what are they doing allowing an 18 month old to roam around with no supervision? So, I guess we can start holding pool companies responsible for when parents kids drown in their home pool that the pool company installed because the parents weren't keeping an eye on their kids? Really? It's like suing the gun manufacturers for people using their guns to commit crimes. I suppose Hershey Park should have constant security roving around keeping an eye on peoples kids so that they don't get kidnapped while the parents are engrossed in their tik tok videos? Or playing their Candy Crush? No. There needs to be an example made to these parents that their main responsiblility is to their child. Not their phones. It is not society's responsiblility to watch their children. Period.

OH my friend, I didnt say the parents have NO responsibility, In fact I said they were responsible several times. What I said is the park is also responsibile.

As for pool companies, they DO hold home owners responsible to FENCE their backyard pools as an attractive nuisance. And gun owners are responsible to keep loaded firearms from a house full of kids during a birthday party. And bars have some responsibility not to let intoxicated customers drive away.

Is it the parents responsibility YES but its also the park too.

Tell you what, put a pool in an unfenced back yard and when some kid drowns, see if you arent sued?
