Evening ISW Update

Iran launched multiple strikes targeting Gulf countries after the ceasefire went into effect. The United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Defense Ministry announced on April 8 that Iran launched 17 ballistic missiles and 35 drones at the UAE after the ceasefire went into effect.[61] Kuwait’s Defense Ministry said that Iran launched 28 drones at Kuwait since 1:00 AM ET on April 8, with Kuwait intercepting most of the drones.[62] Kuwait did not characterize these attacks as ceasefire violations, however. Iranian drones struck several sites, including oil facilities and three power and water desalination plants, at the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy in Kuwait City on April 8, causing significant material damage.[63] Iran did not claim attacks targeting the UAE and Kuwait, but Iranian media noted that the attacks occurred after the reported attacks targeting Iranian oil facilities on Lavan island.[64] The IDF denied its involvement in the attacks targeting the oil facilities.[65]

The Strait is being blocked by the goat herders. Then when they open it, pay, or do not pass.

Ooooo! They do not own the Strait. So, that's a mixture of extortion, obstruction of a navigable waterway, and purpresture!

Yeah, I had to look up PURPRESTURE. :p

Update

If I was a betting man, I'd wager that we'll begin major strikes before the 2-week deadline.

now see
the normal route is not being used for fear of some mines on the bottom waiting to be activated remotely or so they say

the fix
STOP all traffic, have ships stand off 100 miles or out of arabain gulf
c130 drop a sub surface MOAB into the the normal channel and remove said device or hindrances
stop using the east/north route
solution

ships transit and iran is just another ugly face on the beach

Remember the old proverb that cease fires just allow the enemy to reload? Well, we can a lot and they can a little bit. I haven't all the reports posted here, but I'd wager the cease fire allowed us to rest and re-cock and start the targeting process to clear the Strait. Don't laugh, but I would ask the lunatic news media "how does Iran close the Strait?" "How do they open it?" So, mines, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles I guess but no one I have seen actually says the "how." Oman is on our side and we've had basing rights for over a generation, so that area is out of play. That leaves the Iranian side and Abu Musa and the Tunb islands. Take them out air-ground combined ops if necessary, and all the installations within reach of the Strait. Again, I think we are just reorienting to do just that.

An International Court has stated that the UAE had rights to Abu Masa , and here are UAE residents living there under the thumb of the Iranians since the Shah's forces & the Wackos after the Shah has kept it.

We have the USMC & Airborne forces in Theatre to take Abu Masa & the Tunb Islands.

There's no reason to take Kharg since it can be blocked as the Iranians are doing for the existing ship traffic.

As you say, Abu Musa was co-occupied by Iran and UAE. When Iran took complete control some reports said UAE military were executed on the island. This has been a festering sore for decades and despite planning to take it, or, take it out from the air, no one has had the gumption to do it. I say let UAE re-take it. It would benefit everyone in the region.

.... trying the new mission against Iran rather than China would be a great test case!
My problem is, we are displaying our combat tactics, abilities, limitations, and weaknesses for the Chinese and Russians to see.

It's not accidental. They help provoke this stuff for their own interests, not Iran's.
