USPS Strikes Again

I know there’s a few threads about USPS/FedEx/UPS/other delivery nonsense. Thought you all might enjoy that my prescription meds (nothing critical and I always order early) left St. Louis to Honolulu on it’s way to Texas…and will now be arriving late 😂 😂 😂!

BUT - USPS does so well, they’re RAISING RATES - AGAIN!!!

Ever since the USPS went on strike when President Carter was president, the quality of the USPS has gone down and down and down.

At the risk of offense to the folks who may be in a union, I will say this;

Unions originally served with pride and a purpose for American workers. There was a time that a union was needed. But at no time in my government employment, did a union, including the FOP, do anything for me.

It's my opinion, that government employees have no need for a union of any sort. There are so many rules of employment and various options through the HR department, unions are not necessary. The USPS doesn't need a Union.

Again, just my own thoughts, and it's okay to differ.

An added thought about unions, particularly within the government.... At this point, I believe that the purpose of the Union is to save mediocre employees, and also saving the union income.

Again, these are my thoughts and opinions, and you are welcome to differ, or discuss them, who knows, it might change my mind.😊

Just think now that they got a contract with Amazon just think where those packages will end up or how long they will take to get to you. The whole organization is a disgrace!
here amazon opened a terminal in tyler
now USPS and UPS are rarely delivering amazon stuff
first few weeks packages were at wrong addresses
now its working good
the driver knows me,... now but was not happy with a few heavy orders
USPS is hit or miss here,
i would say SUCK, but that would imply they have some level of good

So after I did 28 yrs active duty and a couple years as a contractor, I did 10 years in USAF Civil Service. I concur 1000% with your perspective on saving mediocre employees. It’s the reason why I did just 10 and retired/retired at an age I could have easily worked another 10-15 years, if not more. Next January is 10 years since I left civil service and I still do 3-4 miles on a treadmill (sometimes significantly more if I get a wild hair), 4-5 times a week, so pretty much still in shape and healthy. Got so tired of doing (or redoing) other people’s work, watching folks only have to breathe to draw a check or get to a retirement, etc., and then seeing supervisors being blocked constantly when trying to fix the problem.

i did the contractor route when i retired from the Navy
hmm money can buy happiness,
we had a pair of civil service bosses and they were in need of letting go... horrible critters
always trying to get something for nothing around renewal time
but on the flip... some of our contractors were plain walking box of rocks

I thought they ceased diversity hires.

On a tangent, I fully support the concept of government employees at all levels should NOT be unionized. However, one of my largest customers is unionized. They are able to retain their best employees FAR better than most of their non-unionized competitors. Almost makes me want to study philosophy.

the government doesn't own the usps, it only gets their profits. same thing with the irs as it's basically a private accounting firm. it's stupid to raise rates when they waste so much money in fuel taking millions of parcel to wrong places. w/o tracking you'd never know where it is or went. kinda like our and your local mail that stays within the city............it gets shipped somewhere else to get post marked and returned. from what i've been told after they stopped post marking locally for local mail it went to a district facility and then back local. now it goes to houston (600-700 miles away) and then returned. all because of a post mark. when i have a bill from a local place, i just hand deliver to said place as i'm not giving any money to morons that shouldn't have it (usps)! fedex and ups isn't much better as the way the both of them handle things also! just remember we DON'T live in a perfect world and some don't strive to make it better!
