You know you if this happens here, it could turn nationwide, you gotta love how people still vote for the democrats no matter the outcome….they have to start and learn you don’t have to vote along party lines if you want your freedoms to continue…..
My bet is they'll have to activate their National Guard to do the door to door work. Unless, of course, this happens in Portland where the local LE will gladly participate. All of this boils down to one thing. If it passes, will local law enforcement pitch in to do the confiscation, which means going door to door. If not, this is all academic.
It is showing that these politicians want to control US. They can't do that as long as we have guns. People need to remember that this gun control movement started years ago ( back in the 60's ) with them trying to outlaw handguns. All of this boils down to one thing. If it passes, will local law enforcement pitch in to do the confiscation, which means going door to door. If not, this is all academic.
Appellate practice is a niche in the legal system.to bad the SCOTUS doesn't slap these (d) around a bit. They're blalantly violating the 2A which SCOTUS has ruled on over and over.
Title 18, U.S.C., Section 241 - Conspiracy Against Rights. Title 18, U.S.C., Section 242 - Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law. Title 18, U.S.C., Section 245 - Federally Protected Activities.to bad the SCOTUS doesn't slap these (d) around a bit. They're blalantly violating the 2A which SCOTUS has ruled on over and over.
I believe it is two fold:You know you if this happens here, it could turn nationwide, you gotta love how people still vote for the democrats no matter the outcome….they have to start and learn you don’t have to vote along party lines if you want your freedoms to continue…..
You're back! We were getting concerned about your absence. Hope all is well. Glad to see you back.the governor, has been quoted many times saying...."I WILL PROUDLY SIGN THAT GUN BILL" on many that went to his desk....
however......
its an election year, and (the governor) has tanked in the polls.....he's gonna lose the primary election, he's desperate to get the votes.
RI has a state constitutional convention, which is every 10 years...if it passes, it can be revised.....it failed to pass it 2024, meaning in 2034, it comes up for a vote again...so no confiscation can be done, per the RI laws.......as well as the US Constitution..!!

Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee has indicated he would veto proposed gun legislation that he deems unconstitutional, specifically regarding potential confiscation of firearms.
The current debate revolves around whether the legislature will advance a bill requiring mandatory surrender or disposal of previously lawful firearms, prompting the Governor to comment on a potential veto
- Veto Stance: In an April 2026 interview, Governor McKee stated to WPRO that he would veto legislation if it constitutes "a law that confiscates property against the constitution".
- Context of the Bill: The discussion centers around proposed legislation (including H8073) introduced in 2026, which aims to ban the possession of specific military-style semiautomatic guns, potentially eliminating the "grandfather" clauses that allowed owners to keep firearms legally purchased before previous bans (2025).
- Legislative Status: As of April 8, 2026, many of these proposals were being held for further study by the House Judiciary Committee, which is a common procedural move, meaning they remain active.
- Previous Action: While Governor McKee signed a 2025 law that banned the sale of certain assault weapons, that law did not include a confiscation provision for previously owned weapons.
