For those of you old enough to remember the TV show, this is the Man From U.N.C.L.E. Special (or at least my version). THIS one started as a P1 with the later steel Hex bolt for added receiver strength and the latter "fat" slide (note how the cocking serrations extend beyond the safety selector). The guns used in the TV series were the older P1 variants.
A closer inspection will show that there is no front sight. The TV show agents didnt need front sights, either that or the prop guys didnt feel the need? ***Fun Fact the prop guys may not have felt the need for a front sight but they did make the guns FULL AUTO. When ATF caught on to the illegal machine guns, the network was fined the hefty amount of $2000 (BIG money in 1964)
The U.N.C.L.E. Special had a one piece aluminum grip instead of the P1 two piece plastic grips. The metal grip had a built in scope mount (see the dovetail at the top of the right side). There was also a grove in the rear for a detachable stock.
The U.N.C.L.E. Special was standard issue to all agents along with the necessary accessories to convert it to a rifle with a suppressor
Note the agent's initial (K) on the grip, indicating that this gun was issued to Agent #11 Illya Kuryakin
UNCLE is a secret international counterespionage and law-enforcement agency. There is some debate as to the actual acronym. One translation (likely Russian) reads it as United Network Command for Law and Enforcement, while most English translations read it as United Network Command for Law Enforcement (leaving out the and)
