Galco Thunderclap Masterbilt Holster

It's a good looking holster, but for $249 I would put the money towards a real custom holster from a real legendary maker. Galco is only a hundred miles away from me. They used to be my go to maker when I was working plain clothes. I haven't bought Galco in over 30 years. I applaud them for trying to get back to quality over mass produced thin flimsy leather holsters.

But who came up with that name?

Forgot to add, custom price will likely be close.

This was a very popular and comfortable holster for all day wear. IIRC there may have been a model for the P35 Browning.

There were several people who used the holster in the late 70s.

Ok, one other thought, if you have a Springfield AOS model, the 1911 holster featured does not offer an "Carry Optic" option. Oh well, pity. I emailed Galco Customer Service to ask if said option could be in the works, will post a reply.

Like Cooper, Askins only liked one gun, The 1911. Though in fairness, there wasn't the selection of auto's as there is now...

Nah ! Over his life & career(s) , Askins liked , carried , competed with , and fought with a wide variety of handguns . Including being an early advocate of 9mm .

As promised...from Galco Customer Service:
"Thank you for your interest in Galco holsters. Unfortunately, we are not currently making a Thunderclap holster for the 5” 1911 with an optic. The number of requests for a particular gun type influences which holsters are available first."
