Emergency Money

I always keep a few 20s in my wallet, in case I can't use my CC. I use my CC for everything I possibly can...for the cash rewards, and the statements are a great source of purchase history for tax purposes, and to see some of my stupid impulse buys. I haven't paid CC interest since my divorce in '98. Amazing.

I tried dressing the part when working undercover in the 70's. I gave up gold chains when they started getting tangled up in my chest hair but still have some bellbottoms in the closet

Working Vice we had a 647 (A) problem in Rampart…lewdconduct. To catch those involved I wore thin shirts and a large cowboy belt buckle…you get the drift. Partner and I worked men’s restrooms in parks because of the confluence of children and weenie-wavers.

Never worked Narco or Public Disorder divisions…Vice was bad enough!

Hi,

I took Mrs. BassCliff out for a symphonic band concert. She had cash for the tickets and let me keep the $10 in change. I lost it. But I found it again in the pocket of my jeans before I washed them. Oops. I guess that's why I don't keep a lot of folding money. Maybe I just need more practice. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

How uncouth, wearing blue jeans to a symphonic concert!

When I was a young cop, the old guys told me to buy comfortable shoes and my personal map book.

When I became the old guy, I told the rookies (especially the ones still living with Mom) to put $200 cash from each pay cheque and a passport and a list of non extraditable countries in a safe place where they could get it 24hours a day....and to keep doing it until they had at least $50K in cash....things changed after Freddie Gray Michael Brown and BLM. Now young cops (and civilians) need "Run Money" so they can send naked pics from a beach in some country where they cant be extradited when some leftist States Atty who wants to run for political office wants a TV case.

But the only non-extradition countries are not places I would want to be found as a Gringo. (shrugs)

Maybe so but ask the guys who got indicted where they would have rather been sitting in some 3rd world shiteplace or a city jail?
  • Bahrain;
  • Venezuela
  • Qatar;
  • Kuwait;
  • Cuba;
  • Israel;
  • United Arab Emirates;
  • Solomon Islands;
  • Saudi Arabia;
  • Republic of Kosovo;
  • Northern Cyprus;
  • Cook Islands and Niue.
Not my favorite places but $50K will go a long way in some of those places

An indictment doesn't mean they caught you yet.

And I dunno about you, but I could only sleep with one eye open for so long. (shrugs)

YEP I see your point but I also saw what the mere threat of prosecution did to the guys charged with the death of Freddie Gray. Those guys were found Not Guilty but they are forever fouled up over it.
