What does everyone think?
I believe so.
I believe so.
what makes you bellieve so?What does everyone think?
I believe so.
I agree with the sliding scale part being ridiculous. 18 or 21 for every thing. Maybe make it 19. One age for it all. No exemptions either.A sliding scale of maturity seems wrong. We trust you to vote, fight, drive, get married, smoke, and determine your gender, shooting, yea that’s ok too. Drinking at the bar or buying a gun? Nope not that, you need to use dads guns and find a hobo to get that sixer for you.
Ridiculous
I can’t believe some actually replied to this thread, his last one was about assault weapons, and his others were questionable……he is as I posted trolling, or big brother feeling out this forum and its members….i really have not seen any "18 year old LEO's" here anywhere in my state to be honest..if some of you have 18 year old LEO's, are they to be trusted in thier thought process, or are they just driving around town, with the lights and siren blasting, making people pull over and out of thier way....just for kicks..???
i find it one sided at least here in my wonderfully controlling blue state, that current, and former (retired) LEOs, and current and former (also retired) military can have what i cannot have...more than 10 round magazines.
sorry...but you are retired....??? then YOU ARE JUST LIKE ME, meaning the bans on ME are FOR YOU AS WELL..
the issue of an 18 year old buying a gun is not without controversy , and always has been.
does it violate the 2nd Amendment...??
again, maybe, maybe not.
as i recall, if a state law supersedes federal law, state wins.
for instance all of this:
Key Details on 18-Year-Old Gun Purchases:
so if a state, red, blue, purple, green, yellowed rainbow, makes it a law about age limits, that supersedes, trumps, whatever we want to call it.......federal laws.
- Federal Law: Licensed dealers (FFLs) cannot sell handguns to anyone under 21, but they can sell rifles and shotguns to those 18 and older.
- Recent Court Rulings: In 2025, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that barring 18-to-20-year-olds from buying handguns violates the Second Amendment, arguing they are part of "the people" and historically served in militias.
- State Law: Some states have implemented laws that are more restrictive than federal law, raising the minimum age to 21 for all firearm purchases, including rifles.
- Legal Debate: The central debate rests on whether regulating access for 18-20 year olds based on public safety is permissible or if it infringes on their constitutional rights.

my opinion about gun purchases age limits...??
26 years of age.....one has to be 26 to rent out a vehicle, i know this cuz i wrenched at a car rental company, one of the big ones too........but car rentals is NOT the same as guns...we all know this...but that 3,000 lbs (and up) vehicle CAN KILL just as easily.......in the wrong hands.....right..????
there is that argument, debate, whatever, that well if "one can be 16/18, and join the army and go fight, then he should be able to go out and buy a gun...
you cannot compare that army duty whether drafted or voluntary to civilian life, one is duty to country, the other is not.
so, let it stand "as-is" to all the 50 U.S. states and thier laws about gun purchases
otherwise, get up off your collective assssssses, and demand more from your "state" elected officials to make changes, in YOUR state, as well as to your congressmen to make changes on the federal levels
and also, yes, i too believe the OP of this thread is/was trolling.
this age BS nonsense always seems to get started on ANY website, from new members...not the older "established one's".
usually "we" can spot a troll from the farthest distance.I can’t believe some actually replied to this thread, his last one was about assault weapons, and his others were questionable……he is as I posted trolling, or big brother feeling out this forum and its members….
only on thursdays after 1PM, so as to not disturb my mid day nap.But can my 18 year old grandson have a LAW rocket?![]()
I’ve seen my share of those 21 (and well over) who might also be considered scarily stupid! And I’ve no doubt there are some exceptionally mature 18 year olds, probably in the minority in this day and age of teenagers staring at phones nonstop and eating Tide pods to “win” a virtual “challenge”.OTOH Ive seen some scarily stupid 18 year olds.
