Dress Code

Yesterday was supposed to have been my day to go into town, but had to cancel. So I went today. My attire for today was athletic shorts and shoes, a pocket t-shirt, and a ball cap on top of my crew cut shaved head. My beard was combed and I had applied beard balm after my shower this morning. My beard is almost to the point of being long enough to start braiding it, as I used to in years past when it was long enough. Think late David Allan Coe beard style. First stop was my credit union. The employees in there were all dressed in light business casual style. Nothing fancy. All the customers would have caused you fashion snobs to go into a terminal hissy fit. All the women seemed to be in all kinds of different casual summer wear. About 2/3rds of the men were in some style of shorts. The other third were jeans. Mostly blue collar guys. There was one older gentleman sitting in the waiting area with jeans and cowboy boots. Wearing a plain solid colored tee shirt and a base ball cap that said Vietnam Veteran. His hair was in a pony tail and he had a short beard. I would have loved to see some sissy dress code nazi call him out. Academy Sporting goods was my next stop, just to window shop. You light in the loafer types would have stroked out walking in there. As was pointed out by several others, dress the way you want. And if you want to blend in, then dress the way those around you do. I fit in perfectly in my part of the country. As for being an ambassador to the 2nd. amendment, how do you do that without going around open carrying? Or do you wear a sign? I was under the impression that most conceal carry, and don't want anyone else to know it. I guess that person is crying out for attention, dressed in their tuxedo.
 
Yes no doubt dress is very much is location dependent, and I dont think anyone here(?) would actually say anything to someone that they didnt think was dressed properly but I can assure you it makes an impression

My PD got detailed to work the Preakness. There are two types of people that attend. The owners and similar sit in the Grand Stand and dress accordingly. Then there are "how much beer can you drink" types that only attend as an excuse to get drunk and rowdy. Those guys are typically younger and dress (and act) like it, (peeing next to the Spot-a-pot if it was in use, seeing how many people wanted to see them topless, etc)

Occasionally someone from the Grand Stand would come to the In Field, they didnt stay long....

Folks are free to dress as THEY like. Thats fine. But I ask you this, if you see a car broken down on a dark road which type would you be willing to stop and help especially if you have your family in the car?

Tactical Edge ??? what IS THAT ???? with regards to clothing.

In the summer, you can have the same tactical edge in a T shirt and shorts as jeans and an untucked polo
at the grocery store on Saturday is you would as if you were going to the lake next stop for a relaxing week end of fun.

Coming home from work, dress slacks with either a nice button down or polo, there is no advantage tactically over either than shorts and a T shirt untucked.

Only tactical advantage would be have a coat or sport coat where you could conceal a larger frame weapon.

Your point to not look like a hobo or lounge lizard while out and about is valid, but there is no being on tactical advantage.

The person in ND wearing a flannel, blue jeans and say a nice hiking shoe has no tactical advantage over the guy in FL in shorts, a polo, and tennis shoes.

Neither. There are quite a few serial killers that were very well educated, dressed well and lived well.
Especially with a family am I not stopping. more prudent is to call the local PD and inform them someone is broken down and in need of assistance.
I tell my daughter dont trust a sole if you break down unless you called them or they are in uniform. even then get a pic of a car/tow truck and send it to someone.

oh, and a lot of folks dress down on purpose with borderline grunge so they dont get bugged by folks.
 
I wont speak for Winchester; but I will say how you are dressed will influence how the PD "see" you after an incident and short of the trigger pulling THAT is what will determine whether you are listed as a victim or victim/suspect.

Before the PD arrive do you want others to look at you as a good guy or a homeless guy or a biker or a street thug BECAUSE that may determine in their mind if you are a threat or are stepping in to help someone.

How do you want to look in the video that is shown to the grand jury, who decide if theres enough to take to trail? How do you want to look when they play the video over and over on TV?

Hahaha I used photo searches because I didnt want to walk through Walmart and the homeless camps maybe others do but I no longer have to...
