When I was told I was a diabetic I stopped drinking and smoking. That was well over 20 years ago. Doctor told me if you want to live stop all the vices. What he didn't tell me was everyone else around me would pass on. I don't know what is worse, seeing everyone go or being without friends and family.
well here's the thing......no matter what...doctors know, when we go off our diets or have a vice or 3.....its human nature for some, however, while others tow the line till the end.
yes, we WILL ALL DIE of something someday.
we all want to live a long time, at least i know i want to.
but, somedays i will have some ice cream...or that all important Devil Dog at bedtime, to keep my sugar level up while i sleep, and don't wake up with the shakes and heavy sweat, with a blood sugar reading of like 50....like a few nights ago......
as long as things are done with "controlled" moderation, and not being negligent and going hog wild, i still want to enjoy some of "the vices" of life.....
even if desired...a 1970's weird music porn video.....which i have a collection somewhere, unless the wife found them, and threw them in the garbage.......come to think of it...i always wondered why the garbage man went thru my garbage, before dumping it into the truck........
after all....man and woman do not live vice free.....that's as impossible as ever could be.
so i try to "sneak" some sweets, or a lite beer from time to time, my BP is still good, my A1C recently was at 6.9, and my doctor is happy.
