Like the article and the conversation you all are having. One thing did cross my mind about the red dot at night. I use the Sig 365 macro ported with a holosun 507k. Never had any problem with night blindness when shooting. Then again, I am used to the bigboy guns Uncle Sam provided with a big flash at the end. My concern about this article is blow back getting to my red dot which you dont talk about. After every range day, I clean my red dot which is dirty. The only time it looks cloudy is if I actually try to clean it at the rage and use it again. Mike, is there anyway you can do a follow up article on this. FYI, one of my favorate is the Echalon. My next EDC will be the echalon 4.0c comp. Christmas list.

Myth #3 is as far as I got. Comps do NOT make it louder. Been proven with sound detection devices. It DOES however redirect noise so that it impacts the shooter more.

Don’t really want to jump on a resurrected thread, but you’re really splitting hairs. To the shooter many comped guns seem louder - particularly guns with chunk ports. If the sound is redirected toward the shooter…

And if you’re one of those people who believes a loud bang potentially causes a flinch, then a louder bang perceived only by the shooter could definitely be an issue

FWIW, I have more than a few comped guns - edc and competition guns - and haven’t encountered any of the issues in the original article.
