I have a 1991 7" Longslide Javalina.

This was one of the later pistols and is a wonderful specimen. I wish someone would build an 8" 10mm Longslide and a 10" Longslide chambered for the 10mm Magnum.
That would arrange for the capability to reach out to 120 yards to hunt either deer or hogs.
Using the original Norma load (1400 fps using a 170-grain bullet from a 5" barrel), you can achieve 1475 fps from the 8" slide/barrel setup. (And be deadly accurate too). A 200-grain bullet could max out at 1300 fps. (750 foot-pounds of energy ain't hay).

I love the thing. It was my first 10mm. It was a later pistol, so IAI (formerly AMT) had the all-stainless pistol worked out. (no "galling" here). It has "hunting model" etched on the side. You KNOW it is quite the long-range deer, pig, and even bear, handgun. She's accurate at long ranges and relatively soft-shooting, even with full-house 10mm loads.

The 45acp amt hardballer i bought in '86 was terrible! I gave it 1k rounds worth of testing and no improvement on reliability. It was 40 more years before I bought another 1911. Well, actually 3+1 (kimber ds warrior 10mm 5" excluding added comp, alpha foxtrot 4.25" comped 45acp, six 1911x 5" freedom 45acp & soon to buy at July's end alpha foxtrot 4.25" comped 10mm). The AF hasn't been released yet. I have 1 that resembles a 1911, but doesn't have the same terrible grip angle (OA Defense pro, the non-aluminum frame which is the pro elite). For a 9mm ut was a ridiculous price! Pro elite is another $350-500.

In pistols you won't gain an estimated 25fps per inch. Rifles, possibly. Pistols are usually 10-15fps per 1" due to fast burning powders that don't have gas volume and low pressures unlike what @Belt Fed creates! My 45-70 going from 20 to 26" won't gain 100fps. If you like 10mils, shoot 135's! I'll need to confirm but I think I'm getting close to 1,800fps in a 16"? Do you reload, if so try some low weight bullets.

When I carry my 10mm I have Underwood Ammo 150gr xtp at 1500fps and that gives it 756 foot pounds of energy. Recoil is manageable and bullet weight IMO is the best for social work. Underwood offers the 135gr Nosler at 1700fps out of a 5” barrel. But this is a sporting bullet and doesn’t stand up to that velocity. Underwood does offer the 115gr extreme defender with a muzzle velocity of 1700fps that will defeat level 3a body armor and still have good performance in gel. But recoil is a lot harder to control. I’ve been a fan of the 10mm ever since it came out in the 80’s. But like I said before no one offers the original Norma FBI loads of a 220gr bullet at 1400fps for 958 foot pounds of energy. That load produces the 41 magnum velocity but I have know idea what Norma’s recipe for that load was. I’ve tried to push 200gr projectiles at those velocities with a lot of different powders and got high pressure signs before reaching 1400fps. People bad mouthed the FBI for not being able to handle these loads but the guns could not handle them either.

It’s not what its worth, but what does it mean to you.
Its nice to see firerams appreciate in value, but if its a cherished item never to leave one collection, who cares whats its worth. Its a personal treasure.
But if you don’t keep the appreciated value up to date and recorded on a regular basis your wife will end up selling it for what you told her it cost back in the day when you’re no longer around!

Some gun dealers are crooks and will offer you a really low price and tell you it's not worth anything. I seen one do an old woman like that. her husband had passed and she was wanting to sell his gun. This gun was an old FAL with wood furniture. it looked brand new. but it was a vintage rifle.

I'll try not to call this fat bastard dealer any names, oops i just did. anyway the POS told her it wasn't worth anything as it was too old and nobody would buy it. the creep said i'll give you 50 dollars for it and i will be stuck with it a very long time. nobody will buy it.

I was just about to say Maam, don't sell that gun to that *** hole for that and she agreed to it. I never went back in that store. i have seen similiar instances several times. just not as bad as that one.

When she left you should have stepped up and told him since it wont sell, you’ll double his money and give him $100
