Has anyone ever had a random package show up?

We did not open, marked out and covered labels. Put in the trash.
I mean no disrespect but Im sensing real concern and Im not understanding why. Yes I agree dont call or email anyone listed on the label or papers inside; but it seems like youre treating like it could be a Bio-hazard or some such.

And what good does marking out the label do if youre throwing in the trash? Did you mark out the barcode on the address too?

Im just not seeing anything to worry about.

I rarely see the same driver of ups ir FedEx lately. Vikie was the ups person for years and James was the FedEx person. When a Lincoln navigator started showing up I didn't know what to think, but at least it was 3pm. There's only 2 ups drivers that deliver in this county, but FedEx is closer to 10.
Fed Ex had to add drivers to keep up with your purchases 😉😁🇺🇸

a fedex driver delivered an overnight envelope to our front door. She dropped it and took off running (BFH is what I call the type) which isn't uncommon for ups/fedex delivery drivers to our development. I foolishly didn't even bother to look at the name, the address was "5080 W. xxxxx" which is ours. WE were expecting a fedex delivery from our CPA so I opened it to find a check for several thousand dollars from an investment account which I was 99% sure was not ours. I realized the check was to a neighbor which lived several blocks away who just happened to have an address with the same residence number, but completely different different street name. The silly driver didn't bother to check the address was not the street she was on.
I spent two hours tracking down the neighbor's phone number so I could get the package delivered to her. I couldn't find a phone number to fedex to report the driver and make the driver come get the package and make the delivery herself. The woman was so appreciative to get the check.
A couple of days later the same dei female driver delivered another package. This time I told her to wait until I verified the package was really for us. Then I told her what she did previously. She was more concerned about whether I contacted fedex to complain and blamed her gps. Bottom of the barrel help these days.

Have you read any of the posts by fellow board members?
To provide context….My wife has had her identity stolen from a data breach at Shelby County Schools several years ago. As a result each year we have to get a PIN number from the a tax man just to file. On a separate occasion someone posing as the local credit union called her and drained her checking account 1 week before Christmas several years ago.
Been there done that; I don’t risk it. I treat unknown packages just like unknown calls . If I don’t who or where it’s coming from I don’t accept it.
As for taking labels off and marking them out; have you done an Amazon or “Happy “ return to a Staples?
It’s SOP to remove any and all labels off the return, the reason? Your name address and sensitive info can be stolen and used.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
But hey…. you do you.
