As most know that have read my post I’m retired but work a part time job. I had to train a guy who is 31. He caught on fast I showed him one time how to do something and that’s all I need to show him. The job is very simple take money from customers put that amount on the pump. Well about 3 hrs into the shift he was putting the prepays on the wrong pump. Very easy to fix hit tools move transactions to the right pump. Within a span of 30 minutes he had done that 4 times. He turned around and started crying huge tears after the 4th mistake. I told him to take a break go walk it off and I also told him I still do that from time to time. He went behind the kiosk and curled into the fetal position and was boohooing. I went and talked to him and he said he was too stupid to do this job. I told him you have picked it up quicker than anyone I have trained so you’re not stupid. I finally got him to quit crying and come back inside. Finally he came back inside and has done a great job ever since. He is part time also but how do you let something as simple as running a register make you cry. Customers told him it was fine they were in no hurry. Small town with good people. I just don’t understand it. I have babysat him for 2 weeks now answering his calls when he’s at work and I’m not. I call him and tell him what a good job he’s doing. I’m trying my best to help him any way possible. I just don’t understand how a man can let something like that make him cry. Lord help this country if all guys that age are wussies.
