New gun owner with Echelon Question

So I have taken my new gun to the range a couple times now and I've come across a detail that's different as I chose this gun for its ambedextrious appeal. I am a left handed shooter and I struggle a great deal in enabling the slide release with my left thumb. When I try to release the slide while holding the gun in my right-hand and use my thumb it catches fine and releases even if it's tight because said gun is new.

As I studied (eyed) the gun closely, I noticed a very slight shallow right side slide release for a left handed shooter like myself compared to its counterpart. If there's anyone out there that is left-handed and noticed this or is this a newb thing? I do not know if this is a design or flaw thing or hand positioning thing.

I have come across Tyrants Slide release extenders for Echelon and would like to know if anyone here by chance uses them and if so, how are they for you?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I'm a left-handed shooter also and have both a full-size Echelon and the 4.0c comp Echelon. I'm not really understanding the question, but I looked at both and the slide release is the same size on both sides on both of my pistols. And I practice a lot with both hands and thou always a little weird feeling when shooting and releasing with the right hand, it works and is smooth for me.

If that's not your question, then explain more and I'll try and answer. I got over 10k in my full size, (it's my competition gun), much less in the 4.0c.

Well, when I go to push down on the slide release left-handed, my thumb can barely grab on the release button/knob/tab. The slide release for the right hand is a little more prominent where it's much easier for that hand...

I'm not sure I can articulate my issue well enough since I am new to shooting and the only recourse I've come across is to upgrade the slide release to an extended version I found online. The upgrade is only 40 bucks and seems relatively easy to install. I do have the 4.0c

Hello, welcome to our forum. From what you are describing, you are having trouble with your thumb maybe reaching the mag release button? If so, maybe try a smaller back strap, which will bring your thumb more inline with the mag release. Or you can go with an extended mag release.

I actually did that and it did not help. The slide release tab just does not protrude out horizontally far enough to depress the slide release effectively lefthanded as it does righthanded.
The part I am looking to buy is this extender.

then go for it..

on all my glocks,(YES, different gun I know) i use "extended controls" as well, especially the slide release, and the slide take down release.
