Chicken Pot Pie

Condition1

Master Class
Ok I just thought I would make a new thread so others can post what they cook also. We got a broiler in with or layers. So here is the start of the chicken pot pie 1st pic. Big bird was processed and put in a cooler for 2 days on ice. That way Rigor mortis sets in and then relaxes making the meat more tinder. Anything I butcher I do this to. Big Bird ( I didn’t name her) got put in a crockpot with a stick of butter Himalayan pink salt and a few other herbs my daughter in law grew for around 12-16 hours. I separated all the meat from the bones and put that in the freezer. Then the broth was strained and I let it cool and put the bone broth in the refrigerator. The fat separated from the broth and I used the fat to make a rue. And the bone broth 2nd pic to make a gravy. Silver Queen corn English peas green beans Irish potatoes (cubed and precooked) and big bird went into the gravy 3rd pic. 4th pic is of the rue for the gravy. I forgot to attach it earlier. I was going to make a traditional crust but my son loves the crust to be from biscuit dough. It was put in a Dutch oven ( I have made a lot of meals in this Dutch oven) with butter on top. Then put on the Pitboss pellet grill at 400 degrees until crust is golden brown. Then it’s covered temperature turned to 250 degrees and a lid put on it and I will let it cook for a couple hours. There is enough filling to make another pot pie. It’s put in a freezer bag and put the the freezer for the next one.
Just thought I would share my process of from coop to plate. This is what my family will have for supper tonight.

 You gonna eat them feet or are ya gonna waste em?

my wife and i, LOVE shopping at the grocery stores and walmart.

chicken, turkey, beef pot pies..

put into oven, turn oven on, set timer......

eat when done.

nowadays we actually don't do anymore real food preps, due to our ages..now, all of our kids do actual cooking, baking.

as you age, you will see, buying the finished product is cheaper in both money and time spent.

but back in our youth........cooking was so normal for us.

enjoy your cooking, and your rewards

we now enjoy rewards in gasoline points, when we go shopping.

Lived off of them n college. Not Swanson, the cheap is which went for 12-15 cents. Same price as a burger but more filling. I was a growing boy, so ate 3 at a sitting…one each; turkey, beef and chicken. Washed down by a can of Chief Oshkosh. 99 cents a six-pack…Those were the days I remember 60 years later!

I like shopping too. Just open the Amazon app, pick what I want, and later, open the door and get my stuff.

And I don't have to people! People are annoying at the least!
At the worst, I'm facing a felony!
No thanks .....
which is why, when i go shopping, i go like at about 6AM when walmart opens, or at 7 AM when the supermarket opens....

no kids, no food stamp people that early in the morning.

when the wife and i go together, same times....

On occasion we have used the rotisserie chicken from Walmart to make our pot pie. Pre made meals are much more convenient and less expensive but often with a traded cost. I have to watch the sodium levels and other preservatives those foods tend to be loaded with.

He!! No

Mornings are for sleep and then shopping on Amazon...
nope.....although i would prefer sleeping more, if i or the wife and i go to walmart after about 8 AM, all the little monsters will be there, screaming, running around, knocking things over, and getting in my way.......the "joy" of pushing my cart into them sumsofguns, and getting away with it, cuz they "ran into me", not me running into them.....

mammas gotta put a leash on thier animals.

i sleep during the mornings, afternoons, early evenings, and just before bedtime anyways.
