Range report 7-12-2026

Well since I came back from the 888 mile trip to southern Alabama. I finally got to my range to shoot.

I bought some Veteran Ammunition this last week to try out. Let me tell ya this. I’m not buying any more because I had 2 light primer strikes and a few not returning to battery normally. My XDm-9 will shoot basically anything I give it but this ammo I had issues.

After my little test I went back to freedom ammunition and had 0 issues. Seen here:

Yes I aimed for the head and other area.

I also ran my XDm-40

I truely need to learn to adult and shoot more. Both targets were at 7 yards as I sat down.

It was a hot one to sit in the box.

The fun part was pushing all the ammo across the firing line

If you made it this far. Just remember:

Hi,

Oh my! That's what I call "well-vented nether regions".

That's a nice looking indoor range, similar to the newer facility I hang out at. Do I see 10 lanes there?

I've never tried the Veteran ammo, don't think I've seen it at my regular haunts. I've never heard of the manufacturer, Hyperion Ammunition, either. But I've never had any problems with Freedom/LAX Munitions. Even their remanufactured ammo is great. I should have 600 rounds of their .45ACP delivered tomorrow.

Hey, thanks for sharing your fun!

Thank you for your indulgence,

i never heard of Veteran Ammo, glad to hear that report, and most likely will not buy any from them...here at my LGS, they have all the name brands, and sell relatively cheap(er) now than during covid, and after covid.

i HATE that flooring paint.

my club has that junder the shooting bench as well (not the whole area) and it is ONE GIGANTIC PITA to see my brass with all those colors...!!!!

the public range i go to, the floor is painted one color...gray......PERFECT to see the brass......

I believe it’s 8 lanes at my range.

I swear by Freedom Munitions/LAX ammunition. I changed to them after ammo Inc sold off their stuff to Odin. It’s to the point I got a email with a VIP 5% off (had to spend a few grand with them already).

I don’t mind the floor honestly because otherwise people would destroy it. I always am picking up people’s brass when I’m there (used to be worse when I left the first time).

I’m always willing to try different ammunition. There’s always something that might make a good backup if stuff goes wrong (like ammo inc going out of business).

The floor in my range is plain old concrete. It can be a little slick when were running around back there scootin' and shootin'. That textured floor looks like it would provide a little more traction. I like it.

It’s not bad honestly. The only thing I don’t really like is that the floor is the only thing heated. I know I’m a little crazy but it gets to uncomfortable cold in the winter and a tad warm in the summer. Yes the forced air is nice but if someone is used to it. I don’t mind 40 degrees with the air going (I’m a chubby kid).
