Hmmm? Open Carry is for Bar B Ques not strolling down the street shopping for Doritos because you just finished a Blunt. Its like waving a swastika flag in front of a WW2 cemetery , legal yes; but inflammatory and certainly distasteful

Im actually all for open carry but NOT in THIS culture. Open carry would be fine in a world where people understood responsibility and restraint. Maybe that exists somewhere but not any place Ive ever been. The guys I see open carrying are usually wearing an Uncle Mikes IWB holster OUTSIDE the waistband with the clip on the inside of their sweatpants.
While there is no question that long gun trumps short gun the whole “open carry a rifle” thing bothers me. Because you “can” do something that does not mean you “should”. I can see anti gun folks being “shocked” or scared (and couldn’t care less), what bothers me is those who aren’t “anti” but still get rattled over the black guns because of the way they’re portrayed by the media AND the fact that they are widely shown as the “weapon of choice” for mass shooters (rightly or wrongly isn’t the point as perception is in fact reality). Lady friend of ours saw an AR in my vault and said “I don’t think those should be allowed”, same lady wanted to shoot my Mini. I let her and after she’d done so an enjoyed it we had a long talk about how they were the same (semi auto .5.56 rifles). The difference? One was wood and blue steel, the other is black aluminum and plastic BUT they do the exact same thing. Plus, these are not “powerful” and in fact have less power than grandpa’s 30/30 and a whole lot less than daddy’s 12 gauge? She saw the light, but how many similar folks think those “scary black rifles” are more powerful, “machine guns”, etc. and have no one to explain. In addition I am not an open carry fan as To Me that is the same as wearing a “shoot me first” sign if you stumble into trouble at the local stop n rob. Do what makes you feel comfy, but think first.

Open carry wins you zero points from "gun guys" but loses you everything from antis and granny on the fence types. Plus its like wearing a "SHHOT ME FIRST" sign and a walking gun resupply point.....When society reaches a point of "so what its a gun" OR "hey thats cool what'cha got there?" The opn carry of handguns to beltfeds will be cool. Until then its like gold teeth on a ghetto kid, lots of flash but little substance

YES and again if Mr scooter had wrapped it in a trash bag, we'd still know what it was but it wouldnt be like walking around a school yard deep throating a cucumber just because you can

Agreed. OC ideas started with good intentions but can quickly spiral out of control and that can be detrimental to others.
If the law says you cna open carry then I dont care who does it. white guy in a truck with a case, black guy on scooter on a sling. rights are the same for everyone if florida wants to be open carry. open carry is stupid but whats good for the goose is good for the gander. remember how folks in CA were ok with carrying until the black panthers did it then reagan and the nra suddenly had a gun control position? Same here. don't get upset if a black guy does what we do.

Out here in rural Florida it's a non issue but most still don't. I open carry on the ranch all the time but when I get in the truck and head for town put a cover garment on. In urban areas open carry is provocative, especially in tourist areas. If we were to see rampant crime or terrorism I might start carrying a long gun around but we are not that country and hope we never will be. In the meanwhile, if miscreants are to see my firearm I want it to be a terrible surprise.

Brother I think perhaps you misread my thoughts; its NOT a certain group ITS the ghetto prison culture, which is (or at least presents) as all about BING. I dont care who you are; but I do care how you act, and gold teeth people no matter what colour tend to act in ways that I choose not to associate; nor do I choose to use them as a positive example because they simply arent. You and the guy on the scooter are free to dress and act however you want (within reason); but the rest of us are also free to look away and check our shoes like we stepped in something.
...and lets be clear riding a scooter thru downtown with an AR hung around your neck, is welllll, pretty much the screaming definition of the ghetto culture. If your still not convinced, I suggest you google Claudette Colvin vs Rosa Parks and see why Colvin wasnt the choice for a civil rights movement. The guy on the scooter simply isnt the best choice for an open carry movement to hand their support around; despite the preaching of Colion Noir, who BTW has made no effort to hide his like of "city" life and that culture.

Id love to see it become normal as well; but then I keep hoping Stevie Nicks will drop buy with a jar of pickles. Maybe you can start by encouraging WalMart to add rifle scabbards to their shopping carts...
