Beautiful countryRecovering from yesterdays nearly 12 hr. (930am to 900pm), but 9 miles in total up in the high country right on the ID/MT state line. Started at 5,233 ft. elevation & went up another 2,000 ft. to a ridge before dropping back down to ~4,200 ft. at the end.
The trail exactly followed the MT/ID state for the first 4 miles so I had my left foot in MT & my right foot in ID.

Tons of blow-down over & over to go over, under and thru for hours before I got thru the majority of it when fully in MT where that National Forest (NF) takes better care of the trail than the Idaho NF does.
The easy stuff...

Breaking into the easy part.

Good view of the back-side (western) of the Bitterroots about 30 miles away, all 9,000 to 10,000 ft. in elevation.

Got beat up during the hike with scrapes top to bottom. But not many bugs to deal with & I did get to add some huckleberrys and grouse wortleberrys to my food supply I had with me. But I ran out of H2O about 60% the way thru & did see any creek water till I was back at my rig.
Toughest hike in my life and thought I was going to have to spend the night out there but once I got on to the better maintain MT part of the trail I pushed thru to my rig. Managed to get home at 9:45pm just as it was getting dark.
So I guess I just determined what my max effort limit is.
Took my Super Shockwave, bear spray and a decent sized blade since it's Griz counttry but only bumped into some elk, a good number of Spruce/dusky grouse. and some deer. I didn't see Hatchet Jack up there .

Was going to take it easy today & patch myself up but unforseen stuff came up so most of the day it was dealing with chores.
That bucket list hike is checked off now. Lesson learned.

When I retired, I dropped my employee dental insurance. I am 100% P&T disabled through the VA. I have never used the VA for dental before, but am covered under them. I'm too pretty to be missing teeth!
i am luckyV.A. Has Community Care program. My dentist requested to make and install a bridge from one upper molar to the other side. V.A.approved! Been holding for 4 years now. Not real teeth and not implants but better than false teeth.
Sure hope you get a handle on that crap. I'm fighting my own battles with Sciatica. So for the last few months my wife had been allowed to work from home so she could recuperate from major foot/ankle surgery. Today is her first day to go bank to the office. With her home all that time, nothing happens. But today, something has gone very wrong with me. Something is making me so dizzy that the room starts spinning anytime I get up. I've nearly face planted myself more than once. It seems even my dogs know something is up. They are hanging out right by my side. Every time I ask them if they want to go outside (yes, my dogs know the phrase "Do you want to go outside?"), they don't move, when normally they hightail it to the backdoor. My wife will be home soon, so she can help me make it to the bed. I haven't had these dizzy spells in almost 20 years, and that was TBI related. I sure hope those problems aren't coming back to haunt me.

I imagine this is the case at your house...Cinnamon feels deprived on attention I guess. She probably was worried since I was gone for a week View attachment 114463
