Finally Back to the Range - 26 Jul 26 - CZ S2 Carry and FN Reflex MRD - Suppressed

Last time I was at the range was 13 May of this year, so about 68 days. When I was last there, they had just started remodeling the pistol side of the range, so was giving them time to finish…they were not 😂. Completion TBD.

Anyway, I had been waiting a while to shoot both my CZ S2 Carry and FN Reflex MRD suppressed (I had already purchased a threaded barrel for each and ran 200 or so rounds through each to check fitment, function, etc.).

For the CZ S2 Carry, I fired 100 rounds of Freedom Munitions 147g HP (50 each round into same Vital Dude target), followed by 15 rounds of Federal 147g HST. Every round was fired suppressed. I did fire 2 non suppressed rounds of the Freedom Munitions 147g HP as they just would not feed into the FN, and this was after I was done and into the FN target that was still up.

For the FN Reflex MRD, I fired 50 rounds of Freedom Munitions 147g HP, followed by 15 rounds of Federal 147g HST. Again, every round fires suppressed. As mentioned above, 2 rounds would not feed, so I tried them in the CZ and they worked fine.

I did learn that a suppressor gets very, very, very, very hot - just ask my thumb (wasn’t quite covered by glove I was using loose in my hand to make sure suppressor stayed tight, which was good, because it loosened up pretty frequently with each gun).

In the end though, had a blast. Next time I think will be my three .45 1911s - they’re all overdue for some skill refreshing!

I used a Vital Dude target for each with the following drill:

5 rounds each right and left shoulder, slow fire, 3 yds
10 rounds center mass, fast as possible on target, 5 yds
10 rounds center mass, fast as possible on target, 10 yds
5 rounds center mass, slow fire, 15 yds
5 strings of 2 to center mass, 1 to head, fast as possible on target, 3 yds

I did one last string with the 15 rounds of HST for each gun. Forgot to take photos after though, 😞.

After 15 rounds of HST - and top right round that missed was last shot of my day, which I never like 😂!

Hi @Lab4Us,

Ha! Vital Dude is not feeling so vital right now, I'll bet. Nice work. Good to see you out on the range again. Yes, it has been a while. I've always been intrigued by those Shadow pistols, but not quite enough to pull the trigger. I've decided to save up for a 10mm.

Does that suppressor work well enough to go without earpro? Not that you would, just curious.

Don't be a stranger! ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Goodness you cast a Dark Shadow with that carry

While I couldn’t check (two others were shooting), there was a significant reduction of report with the Freedom Munitions 147g HP. It’s 925 FPS at the muzzle I believe. The 124g HST had a bit more report, though not too much more at 1000 FPS.

I suspect either would save hearing should the need arise in a home SD event.

My bad, that should have been 147g HST…

Would love to hear more about the S2c.

Nice shootin!
There’s a ton of reviews out there. I’m not the best person to review because I don’t find fault with guns (unless functional, as in not working, or cosmetic if brand new). I make whatever I buy work for me and if it doesn’t after a few hundred rounds, it moves on. So I can’t answer questions about trigger creep, break, etc. I will say the DA is a long stroke, but the SA certainly feels close to a 1911. Decocker is nice too. If I carried it, it would be OWB.

What I can say is that it’s kind of heavy, but I think that is what helps accuracy, along with the lower riding slide. Not any heavier than a government 1911 of same materials. I use the EPS Carry 6 MOA Green Dot. Mounting was a breeze and it hasn’t budged since I mounted it. Also super easy to clean. I ordered the threaded barrel direct from CZ and it was a true drop in, working flawlessly with and without suppressor mounted.

I prefer 1st person reviews from someone that actually paid for the gun. Thanks for your reply.

If you have specific questions, I can try and answer them. FWIW, I’m coming up on 1300 rounds downrange with mine and that will be only second to the 2K+ I had through my DW Guardian and about 1800 through a Wilson Sentinel - both of those in .38S. And I have no reason to not think the CZ SC2 round count won’t eclipse the Guardian eventually. Too easy, too fun, and too reliable to move it on!
