M1A difficulties after mounting scope

OK since my sort of old eyes (76 and wearing tri-focals) can't see very well using the M1A iron sights I put a Springfield Aluminum scope mount and a Vortex Viper 6-24X50 scope.

Now when I have a loaded magazine in the chamber the Op Rod does not want to move hardly at all.

With no magazine it moves smoothly without hesitation.

With empty magazine again Op, Rod moves freely.

With loaded magazine OP Rod is not happy and I have a struggle to pull it back to chamber a round.

Any ideas where i should look to solve this annoyance.

Welcome to the forum. You may want to contact SA customer service. However, did it function as it should before the scope addition? Also, what about a half full magazine?
Did you try a different magazine?
I’m sure smarter people than me will chime in.

I second contacting Springfield or a M1A competent gunsmith

I shot a M21 when in the Army and used a M1A/M25 in PRC for awhile and never had an OP rod problem.
 
I would replace the SA mount with a better one. Most serious M1A owner/operators chose to use one of the Sadlak mounts.

Get the mount installed by a skilled gunsmith, or experienced M1A owner/operator.

I am wondering about the relationship between a scope and its mount, relative to the bolt cycling. Those have to be wholly unrelated circumstances. Which leads to numerous questions, none of which I have the energy to type at the moment.
 
Looking at the bottom of the bolt it appears the bolt is rubbing on the top cartridge in the magazine.

Just ordered Dykem Hi Spot Blue to check it out further.

Will call SA and get their thoughts on it.
