I looked and them a while back and decided to pass "for the time being." Aside from it not being a real popular caliber, what drives your decision to pass? I'm curious for reasons I too should be a hard pass.

I was under the impression that the semi-AP round was not available to civilians. Plus, would be nice if one of tge 9mm rounds would have been the more common 115 grain bullet.

My reasoning was the 22wmr surpassed the 5.7 and the ammo is cheaper

I'm just not crazy about having to introduce another caliber into the collection. And since I already took care of bin Laden, I don't think I'll be going on anymore special missions where I have to worry about the bad guy and body armor.

reloading the 5.7 is the low cost way too go, but you gotta be extremely accurate on measuring powder as it doesn't take much to change pressures. i like the 5.7 due to NOT having the rim. the 22mag is 1 of my long time fav's, but currently don't have any firearms to shoot it in. i might consider the m/p for the semi way too go? for a rifle the a22 ( i think that's what it's labeled as) would be my option.

if i bring a 9 it's in 357sig! if needing to go out to 100 yards it's the easy button and very flat shooting. +p+ might make the 2 close, but the sig round is real nice!

I'm with you there. I have 12 guage, 5.56, .45, and 9mm. I posess a variety of firearms and thousands of rounds of ammo. I've always been very reluctant to introduce something new that'd require acquisition of a thousand rounds and a pile of magazines. But I was eyeballing a 5.7. I just don't know enough about them to pull the trigger so to speak.

if either buy or try a 5.7, try the m/p. not sure if the 22mag uses the same recoil setup via tempo barrel. i had a little issue with it at 1st until i realized the issue was because of my lack of maintanance.

the fn5.7 pistol is ok, but not worth the money for the extra $400-600. it was about/around $1,250 when it was the only pistol in that chamber, but fn dropped the cost by ~$200 to try and stay in the game.

I made a self imposed rule decades ago. Minimum 1,000 rounds per trigger in the vault room. I've lost count of how many rounds I have preloaded into magazines. At one point, I was buying Magpul 30 round AR magazines by the case. All of my shotguns are semi-auto with detachable magazines. They each have countless 20 round magazines loaded with rifled slugs and 00 Buck.

However, I've had the itch for a new toy for quite some time and I very seriously considered a 5.7 only because I thought Kel Tec had a sexy little pistol.

While both are useable in a handgun and PCCs the 5.7 is more like a mini-.223 with better CQB perfoamce than a 9mm in a PCC barrel.

I have/use the 5.7 in a AR57 AR-upper, vs. the interesting FN PS90, for a CQB role.

I've got the cmmg 8" 5.7 using the rdb. It runs reliable. Got the 9 and 10 also not to mention the 4.6hk. I'm bummed out that I have to use their lowers for the 10 abd 45 when using the rdb.

Agreed that you can't compare the 2 somewhat equally. When 1 bullet weighs 3x or more as much as the 5.7 it isn't close. Take 300bo and 308win in the sane role and it's close under 200 yards.

When Ruger came out with their carbine in 5.7 i thought i wanted it. Then i saw the price of the ammo.
