10mm Pistols shooting heavy dangerous game loads

I absolutely love the 10mm, I still sue 9mm for EDC but after drawing a bear tag out west I needed a backup pistol and when I tried the 10mm I was hooked. The problem was that I purchased two very expensive 10mm and setup optics and gear and began shooting with 180 grain 1200 fps FMJ range rounds. I researched the dangerous game bear ammo and brought in Underwood 200gr, and 220gr hard cast, Buffalo Bore 220 gr hard cast, Grizzley 220 gr hard cast and Buffalo Bore gr and Fort Scott CLAW 190 gr Mono-metal.

I could not get 5 rounds through either gun before a failure to feed occurred. I researched the failures, called the pistol mfg, the ammo mfg. changed out the mag springs, put in heavier recoil springs, polished the feed ramp and was able to get ten rounds through once. Ordered the Springfield XDM Elite OPS 10mm and took it to the range today. It ate everything without complaint, accurate, and enjoyable, Disappointed in the other two guns but very happy with the XDM!!!

I too have a SA XDM elite compact 10mm.
I've shot many hundreds of rounds with all types of ammo and never ever had any issues.

What were the other 10mm’s that didn’t feed your ammo, just curious

Get a p220 legion. Only 8+1 shots but theyre bomb proof and incredibly accurate. No plastic crap, no strikers. DA hammer and 100% unstoppable. If your worried abkut a pistol to stop something big and fast you arent getting 15 or more off anyway. Get rwal quality. P220 is the best 10 I ever had. Beats colt, SA, Glock, Kimber, etc by a ton

Had a P220 moons ago in .45, wasn’t impressed with it, back then the slides were manufactured by welding 3 pieces together to make the slide….like I said many moons ago….😬

The couple I have are excellent kit. I don't know how they make legion slides. High bore axis but I know if I use the combat sight type pointing ill tag my target where i want. Im not a lollipop or center hold guy anyway with autos. Not the way I learned on the 226.

This P220-10 is dead nuts accurate and dependable, but all we have around here are black bears that avoid people. But it is final and lethal on wild hogs of all sizes if that's any indication. I have killed a number of hogs in my corral traps with it and they drop like a stone.

I do have the M&P M2.0 that did have issues to start with but now works like a champ (sorry Glock fanboy’s but it’s my ticket out of that fanboy club). I do have the XDM precision (5.25” barrel) and the sportsman warehouse full size XDM elite in 10MM. All of them work well but the sportsman warehouse version is the fun one. Now only if CZ made a 10MM.
