I told guys working for us, improving the skill set, tools or education is the best way for more money.
Oh no, failing to the point of doing something that costs you your life is not learning. Thats failingOne need not fail, you either winning, or you're learning!
Too many people think they have lost, they should have learned what to do differently, or what they could have improved, something should have been a lesson.
Hopefully they learn progressively!Oh no, failing to the point of doing something that costs you your life is not learning. Thats failing
That's better than what I tell my kidsFurthermore, there are four things I tried to instill into my children.
1) Sometimes you're the bug, sometimes you're the windshield.
2) Lose gracefully. Be a gracious winner.
3) When you lose, work harder.
4) Everybody falls down. What matters is what you do when you get up.
Well said, Sir!We should be teaching kids responsibility, critical thinking, integrity, hard work, full battery of academics including some college, basic skills like cooking and changing oil and some type of trades type skills, financial skills, not being entitled, seeing other cultures...
Instead we make excuses for them, take away risk and accomplishment, run down education, teach pride not skill, make them think they deserve something, they're the best because they're from the USA, they know it all and ate never wrong...
Kids are screwed when they get to real life. Huge slap in the face coming
My Christmas gift to my niece last year was making a walnut box with her to give her mom. Shes 6. Teach em some skills early like using a tape and punch and supervised drill press. Ill do it with the nephew when hes old enoughTrust me, it shows up on the job site! Ever try getting a high School student to read a tape measure? Hah!
I agree that parent's having given up a lot of thier responsibilities. In general I agree with this post. I do not agree with this sentence.
It isn't that school stopped teaching kids character, because that was never their place to begin with, so much as it is that parents abdicated their responsibility to teach their kids character to the schools.
my state has invested some big monies into the technical schools here..A lot of the younger generation dont have the fortitude for work. They got the “participation” trophy rather than the “its wrong, do it again” in school.
I think this author is spot on
From todays news and the author:
“America has nearly 7 million unfilled jobs. Some of those positions remain open because employers can't find workers with the right technical skills. But ask business owners directly and you'll hear something different.
Too many candidates can't show up on time; struggle to take initiative or accept constructive criticism. They can’t solve problems without detailed instructions, nor can they handle an ordinary setback without falling apart.
Politicians and pundits might blame globalization, automation or data centers. They're looking in the wrong buildings.
This crisis didn't begin in the workplace. It began in the classroom.
spent years as a teacher and as a school administrator before I ever ran an education nonprofit. I watched this happen from the inside. Schools gradually abandoned one of their most important responsibilities: to build character.
Too many schools stopped teaching reading, writing and arithmetic, sure. But they also stopped teaching resilience, responsibility, perseverance and initiative. The idea that a child's feelings matter more than her performance became a paramount concern in schools.”

America’s massive labor crisis started in the classroom, not the workplace

1: They all lie. D., I., R., S., etc. all of them!As a result, job openings have now been revised down in 38 of the last 43 months. US labor market data is becoming increasingly difficult to read with confidence. I ask, why is that?
Yeah, but in that book he can turn water into wine and I’ve been wanting to do that for decades. Plus, loaves of bread and fish. So, it’s gives credence to the govt giving handouts to those not working
I have as well…
