More magazine capacity

50 cal ammo cans can hold a lot of loose 5.56. Or so I've heard. I only keep about 50 bbs for my old Red Ryder.
They can hold a lot of belted 8mm too.

It was 7.62 MM out of the gun ships, not 5.56 Mm, and seeing one fire was a sight I’ll always remember. It WASN’T like a fast machine gun, more like an orange colored lightning bolt. Roarrrrr! I’ll never forget it.
I rode in all three models of the Humvee. The ambulance, the truck, and the "sport model" it was a fastback. Not a lot of room in that one. the transmission tunnel is nearly 2 feet wide, and the hatchback slants from the back of the humvee, about six inches off the rear deck to the roof line. Yes, loose a standard 50 cal can can hold a good number of rounds well over 1000, however, you only get 800 when they are linked. And yes we ran 240 and the experimental SM556 mini guns on those humvees. (not me SF)

7.62 makes the volume issue far worse for the M240. 200 rounds.

And there's packs, medic kits, the radio was the size of 16 inch crt tv, couple cases of water, case of MRE's you're wearing armor, your individual load out standard 7 +1 (many carried 10 or more) loadout etc., it gets cramped real quick. So while the humvee looks enormous from the outside, and yes it is, once you get four guys in it in full battle rattle and a turret gunner, things are super tight.

So no you're not taking 6 K rounds out on mission, or at least the humvees I were in did. And gunships they as well are not carrying 10's of thousands of rounds. You'll be surprised how low of a round count these platforms carry and what that translates to in trigger time. Lastly 7.62/50 cal were mainly helicopter door gunner platforms, the AC130's used 30mm auto cannons.

That's what I was getting at.

Every time this topic comes up I go through the list of people who have required me to carry two magazines or suggested that I carried two magazines or trained me to carry two magazines.

I didn't carry gun at all for probably four or five months before we were getting my medication figured out. 97 ninjas did not attack me and I didn't die.

I don't know how to figure out the percentage But I carry my Glock 26 with 12 round magazine And one 15 round magazine is a reload unless I'm actually going to Colorado Springs or I get a wild hair up my *** and decided I want to carry my Glock 19 which is a grand total of three more rounds because I still only carry one extra magazine.

What you guys do is none of my business.

True story, if I actually get in a gunfight out here this is probably what it's really going to look like

Women have a funny sense of humor or lack thereof. My Mrs. will not tolerate me cleaning anything blackpowder in the tub.
I went a little nut's with an 03 license and a credit card way back when the communist countries were selling their no longer needed small arms and it was "Look out, this stuff's coming right to my door. SKS's, Mauser's, CZ 82's, Walther P-38's, Tokarevs, well you get the picture. My Wife never said a word until I was cleaning up a pair of British Enfields. She say's I don't care what or how many you buy, but that smell (Cosmoline?) has got to stop! I retired to the garage to clean anything that smelled a little "Off".

Nice

On me, 15 in the mag, one up the pipe, that's in my M&P 2.0, usually the spare mag is standard 17 round magazine with a +5 extension.

My "truck" gun is a fixed carry handle AR pistol, 35 I the mag and one up the pipe. Spares for it are a four magazine bandoleer, with another three attached with a three magazine MOLLE magazine pouch attached.

The bandoleer might be overkill, but I'm not going out from a lack of shoot'n back...

If it's like most movies that have cities that are always destroyed or attacked or bombed I'm in good shape where I live! Places NOT to live are NYC, LA, Chicago, SF and Miami. Im a good k miles or more away from any of those!
I live 25 miles south of Chattanooga Tn and I remember the day the recruiter’s office got shot up. I tell people all the time the lone wolf is more likely to succeed. Stay Frosty.

I just watched a video from one of our 2a proponents who suggested that currently we need carry guns with higher magazine capacity as the threat of terrorist activity is more dire than in the past. Made a lot of sense. I believe I'll start carrying two extra mags instead of one
I generally carry 2 guns at all times when out. A Glock 26 or 48, and a Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp. I also carry an extra mag for each. Perhaps overkill, but I want to be ready.
