I have an older XDM Elite and I cannot add a Red Dot without a lot of work. I want to upgrade the iron sights. In my research I found 2 from TruGlo. The TFX Pro or the Tritium Pro. The TFX Pro is twice the price. Does anyone have any recommendations with upgrading your factory iron sights?

Welcome to the forum! I can’t comment on the TruGlo sights as I have none. But I do use Night Fision. They have a great website so you make sure you’re getting what you want.

there are rd bases that can either be installed on dove-tail/novak or other similar type rear sights even with adjustable rear sights. i've done this on a p226 and an xdm precision 5.25" 10mm. some use a set screw and some are pressure fitted/drift fit.

Get the TFX Pro. They have sapphire glass tubes that the fiber and tritium are encased in. Tritium Pro are NOT encased.
The Sapphire tube make both the fiber and tritium impervious to cleaners and solvents.
Worth the money. I've put them un both my XDM-Elite and XDM pistols. The hardest part is getting the old sights off. The Tru glo TFX pro sights go right on, no issues with either of mine, fit perfectly!

I'll agree that the combo fiber optic/tritium sights are very nice.
My favorite iron sights are from Speedsights.com. I've put their tritium sights on a couple of my pistols and plan to do at least a couple more. Lining up those diamonds makes for a great sight picture.
Maybe these will work for you. Maybe not. YMMV.

My default sights for upgrade are Trijicon HD sights.

Hi,
I always let a trusted gunsmith install my pistol iron sights. But there are many here who own their own sight pusher along with the skill and patience to DIY. I'd need to invest in better tools, a good vice, a nice pusher, etc. But I understand that it's not so hard. Maybe a bass player could do it.

If you choose Trijicon and buy from them direct you can send them the slide and they will install the sights at no fee. Call their customer service to see if they can fit your slide dovetail cuts
