first suppressor - .30 magnums

Take your time and do your research ... the market can be a little overwhelming with all the options and I would submit to you that some of the options are not necessarily required (like titanium).

And yes, now that it appears they are only a 4473 away if you live in certain states, now would be a great time to get one (or two!).

Some questions:

1. What's your budget?
2. Remember a suppressor will add length to your barrel.
3. Is your barrel threaded?
4. Are there any LGS where you are that stock/sell suppressors? Might be worthwhile to go handle them. Talk to some of the counter-commandos about them.
5. Finally, it appears there are all manner of brand-loyalists when it comes to suppressors. That's fine but take the time to research what fits your needs.

Disclaimer: I do not own my own yet, but intend to now that it is even easier than it was six months ago.
I'm sure we have some users on the Armory Life that have experience and will chime in with more than I can offer.

Im looking for my first suppressor now that they are easy to get. i want a good quite one for up to .300 PRC. i want to use it on my .300wm to for hunting so short or being able to make it short would be good. what do people like?
SilencerCo makes some nice larger caliber suppressors for rifles.
My suggestion is check them out.
here is the SilencerCo chart.

I run an Omega 300, Omega 36M and a Hybrid 46M. Fantastic large caliber suppressors.

Be aware that a suppressor will change your POI.

At this point I’ve never quite “got” the suppressor for a rifle thing. I mean most any rifle fires a bullet at supersonic velocity. As such, there WILL be a loud crack when said bullet break the sound barrier. Doesn’t matter what the propellent is, bullet alone makes a loud noise. In addition, Most suppressors will killed db or so-But a rifle will be around 140, so a reduction still leaves a sound pressure wave of 100 bd or so (loud enough that hearing protection is required in an industrial environment). Given the above, “why” is a suppressor on a rifle a hot thing? Seriously Why? Inquiring minds want to know. I know a subsonic .300 Blackout can be pretty quiet, as can subsonic 9’s and .22’s, but every other rifle I’ve seen fired, even with a suppressor, is loud.
