This Is Why Your CCW Won’t Save You

My point is, it was written as an experience being a PO if I recall. One, I am not likely to be in a shite hole at 3am and if I have to throw down, nothing is off the table. The police have some limits, especially when it comes to mayhem. I don't if my life is on the line.

This Is Why Your CCW Won’t Save You

There's a difference between a cop dealing with a perp and just being on the street as a civilian. Anything goes with a civilian and I will leave it at that. I am too old to monkey with too many rules of engagement.

Gunfight in the Dark: Would You Survive?

Jamming a gun assumes they have a semi-auto. Who knows. If you have a dog, use it. One, a dog will alert you to trouble before you know about it and I a not reluctant to let a dog investigate while I prepare and move out. Bats aren't as tricky as edged weapons considering that you can identify...

    Long Gun Home Defense

I live in an upper middle class suburban town and I have owned a AR-15 HBAR at one time. Not sure it would be my go to if I still had it(I don't anticipate shooting over 25 yards). I've owned a 44 Mag Marlin lever and now a 444 Marlin. I wouldn't feel bad about using them and I would bet, based...

Wishing for a Revolver from Springfield Armory

Buttered or unbuttered? :) I'd still prefer one of the old Effectors. The old smiths are special. Happy thanksgiving.

Wishing for a Revolver from Springfield Armory

The 325 isn't a 329. Read my comment above that, "I haven't see a new 325/625 in a long time, nor a 29 or 25 with a short barrel. 629, 329 yes". Your gun isn't manufactured anymore and they're not the same as classic smiths and not the same as a jovino. Heck, even the new pythons are different...

Wishing for a Revolver from Springfield Armory

I haven't see a new 325/625 in a long time, nor a 29 or 25 with a short barrel. 629, 329 yes, but it still doesn't look as nice as this one and doesn't have the firing pin in the hammer and has the built in lock. Jovino's were made 35-40 years ago, before smith starting making their own.

Wishing for a Revolver from Springfield Armory

Yes. Chopped the barrel and made a round butt. I don't even know if Jovino exists anymore. They were a gun shop in NYC that catered to the PD mostly. I went in there once, a long time ago. Those old smiths with action jobs were hard to beat. I had a model 15 with an action job and it was the...

No, look up what a jovino effector is. It's not a factory gun, but a custom. It came with a round but. Calibers varied. 44mag, 41 mag, 45acp and 45 colt. Jim Cirillo liked them.

It was one of the first stainless steel 1911's. The Raider was a Commander style. It's a long story, but it has a Colt Combat Commander slide and barrel now.

    Top Springfield XD-S Holsters

I ended up ordering the Tuckable IWB Leather Holster with the optional clip from Muddy River. I'll see how it goes.

A big bore snubbie like the Jovino Effector. Of course it would be more likely a 9mm.

First Timer’s Guide to Buying a CCW Pistol

How things change over the years. I remember when revolvers were derigueur as autos weren't seen as reliable as revolvers. No one really complained about capacity all that much. Today we have so many more choices in terms of just about everything with CC. Holsters, the guns themselves, calibers...

    Top Springfield XD-S Holsters

I just bought a XDs yesterday and I am looking for a holster now. I am looking for something that will work in jeans or sweatpants, with car carry as a consideration. I am tall and not thin too. I like to hike in the desert, so retention is a consideration. Has anyone had experience with the JM4...
