    BassCliff's G-Sight Laser Practice Range

Hey gang! I hope you don't mind that I resurrect my old thread. Wow! It's been a while since I've updated this thread. Perhaps I should practice in my basement laser range more often. Ha! Sometimes I'll have a western on the TV for some distraction. I recently utilized my laser range...

The Origin of the Commander-Size 1911

The 9x23 Winchester had a short commercial life due to a patent infringement lawsuit between John Ricco & Winchester, which snow-balled on for several years and taking the wind out of the fine cartridge. Winchester does make a run of it every time Hailey's Comet passes, and Buffalo Bore offers...

    The Great American M-1 Carbine

I’d trade my FPC for the M1 carbine any day of the week!

    I don’t get it.

When I worked Rampart Area, LAPD, the station defense rifles were a quartet of Winchester 94s, in 30-30. I was assigned to prepare a station defense plan. This was in the early 70s, when the Weathermen were attacking police buildings, and we carried S&W Model 15s.

    I don’t get it.

I was issued a HK MP5 and we also used some Colt 9mm SMGs in my agency here’s the backstory. LE ran a lot of 9mm rifles (actually short barreled SMGs) for years because the (what we know now was exaggerated) fear of over penetration in buildings WTC. So LE went back to 5.56 AR stuff pretty much...

    Dry firing

I also have "Strikeman" system. Use several days a week with striker fired carry guns. My hammer fired guns, not so much. 2lb triggers on Staccatos and the Prodigy comp. Dry fire is not a friend of light, crisp competition weight ignition components. Nice shooting by the way. Peace.

    Range Report: VP9+Echelon 4.5 Comp, 5/28/25

Greetings and Salutations, I was a bit distracted today and got a late start to the range but managed to shoot all the ammo I brought (only 200 rounds). It was an amazingly average day at the range. I wanted to try the Echelon 4.5F Comp one more time and get back to the EDC I've been carrying...

Range Report: Advanced Pistol Clinic, 3/10/25

Hello boys and girls! It was a pretty dang good day today. After my morning workout and coffee I did a little yard work and gave the apple tree its late Spring pruning. I hope it survives and gives us a few apples this year. If not, Mrs. BassCliff wants to chop it down. Then I got myself...

    .45 super

A friend of mine had/has one. But it maybe better to go the 460 Rowland route since .45 Super conversion info seems to be unobtainable & you can shoot .45 Super through a Rowland conversion. There's alot of old info out there on the net so that's why I'd go with a 460 kit. Besides a...

What are you doing right now??

i find it strange an appointment is needed for blood work.. here, we either walk in with the doctors lab request, or we just walk in as the lab has the lab work request already sent in by the doctor. i could never make any appointments for lab work, especially a urine test.... no way, no how...

What are you doing right now??

Now I have an 11:45 appointment for fasting bloodwork. Starving! Only a couple of hours til lunch. In the meantime, I loaded a box of .38s and a box of shotshells and cleaned all our guns. They were filthy after two days in a dusty, dirty match. Hoping for a good match this week. I wouldn't mind...
