We carried Ithaca 37s, not Remingtons. I retired in 94.

    9mm vs. 40 — Is the .40 Caliber a Better Handgun Cartridge?

I saw it from a different perspective…I worked on the entry level oral exams. Personnel Department ran the show, I was an advisor only. There were a number of people who were hired that I had concerns about, especially minorities and females. Ones that I thought were either too aggressive or...

    Bring Back Mental Institutions

Spent three years as a Detective in LAPD’s Mental Evaluation Unit, and not because I-was one!! California had and may still have Sychistric Hospitals. Napa State comes to mind, but many were closed. Problem is…5150WIC stated that anyone a danger to self or others or unable to care for self or...

Vietnam’s Forgotten Gunship: The ACH-47A Chinook

Never called one, but someone else did. A AC47, which worked over the Arizona free fire zone. Very impressive, was able to follow with binos. Have pics somewhere. We Marines had nothing like the CH-47…trying to weaponize a 46 would not have been as impressive…Semper Fi…

    WEED

My time in L.E., back 50+-30+ years ago, started with MJ being pretty weak stuff, smoked mostly by the “preppie” Anglos to be cool. Hard stuff at the time was heroin PCP, LSD and uppers. By the time I was retired, grass was much more powerful, and horse had been replaced by coke, tranc, and...

Pop Quiz what am I working on?

The cocking lever is a POS! At least on the one I carried, you had to point the muzzle at the sky to get it to engage. Why the M1A1 was made…

and there you have it, my first thread removal since i came back

Didn’t say I wanted to retire at 49, but that I had to. Funny thing about shootings. 2-3 years as a teacher, another 4 doing executive protection, 3-4 more as a Marshal and then working as a P.I. FWIW, in Kali, a P.I. Can protect a person, or do investigations. To protect property, have to...

Is Corrosive Ammo Bad (or Actually Okay)?

True, but most all, non modern East Block surplus ,and any other WW2 ammo is corrosive. It is certainly not fatal to your bore, but especially in humid environments, running a damp/wet patch down the bore takes care of it. I probably have several thousand rounds of Turk, Romanian, British, and...

    The .30-06 Springfield

Still can’t see them. But 20 yards away, them busting out of that brush, even with a .348, and I have three of them, would give me a heart attack! And at 80, I would additionally, poop in my pants!!!

and there you have it, my first thread removal since i came back

OK…one more pist. Retired at 49. Injured, no more police work. 50% pension didn’t pay the bills. Worked at being, for a short time, at being a sub teacher. Pay was so-so, but I knew I was gonna be arrested for choking the s..t out of a AH kid. Then executive protection, U.S. Marshals...

My wife has an X-ray like that. Taught for 30+ years, 4 surgeries later…Once they put that cage in, it stays! But, not gonna show you her X-ray. I have had ankle, knee, shoulder and hip replacements, but truly afraid of the back. Seen what she has to go through…hope this helps!
