    honest opinions/thoughts please

Anybody who has shot or shoots at a public range runs into all kinds of people. Not to sound like an old man but, it does seem like younger people are more focused on their phones(social media, texting) than they are on what's important(driving, looking people in the eye, shooting, studying...

    Do you carry a revolver

I used to own a S&W 29 44 magnum(4 inch barrel) that I had magna-ported. Almost every time I went to the gun range people would ask about it because it was so loud. I let a few people shoot it, even a couple of women. The smiles on their faces were fun to see...:)

Kubotan: The Ultimate "Unarmed" Self-Defense Tool?

Kubotan is a nice tool to have if you do a little bit of training with it. Personally, if I need a tool like Kubotan I'll usually carry a Karambit knife and strike with it closed so it's not as lethal as with the knife open and blade out. Plus it has the retention factor by being able to put...

    Do you carry a revolver

I carry a S&W 638 Bodyguard pretty often. It was on me during my electric bicycle ride early this morning. I will sometimes carry a Ruger New Model Vaquero when I'm traveling by car because of the simplicity and 45 colt firepower...:) I have owned several revolvers over the years but the S&W 638...

    Pet Peeves

I agree sir. I've been out of the Marine Corps since 1979. But sometimes I do laugh when I hear a phrase like "Do you like my gun?". Because it reminds me of being in Marine Corps boot camp(1976) and hearing the Drill Instructors correct recruits with, "This is my rifle. This is my gun. This is...

    Welcome Message

Welcome from deep South Texas(Rio Grande Valley), where it's going to be in the upper 90's and lower 100's until at least late September...:) But it's a pretty good place to live because of the cost of living and good hard working people.

    “Displaying” a firearm

I think it can NOT be overstated that concealed handgun carriers need to spend as much time on de-escalation and basic self-defense techniques as they do at the gun range or training with their firearm. Many times awareness, having an escape route, shutting the heck up, etc., keeps situations...

    Anybody have any input.......

I like my Beretta APX a lot. I like how it fits in my hand. How it shoots. When I first saw the pictures of the slide serrations I had to go and handle one. It felt even better than it looked, at least for me. I was able to get mine for $350 out the door, used. It's one of the best purchases...

    My first 1911

Congrats on the new 1911. I miss one. My favorite 1911s I used to own and enjoyed a lot, were: - Sig Sauer 1911 Revolution. (I'd owned several Sig P220's and I decided to try Sig's version of a 1911 and I was not disappointed...:)) - Para Ordinance double stack in 45 acp. (Smooth, well...

    former child actor died

She pre-ordered like some people do when a new 1911 is about to come out(or an AR, or a Single Action only revolver, etc, etc.)...:)

    former child actor died

When I think about Robert Stack I remember him from the comedy "Airplane". He was so funny. So was Lloyd Bridges...:) The old serious actors who later on did comedies were fun to watch. Leslie Nielson played a bad guy in the old days but he'll always be remembered for the Police Squad movies...

Any suggestions on fixing this lack of foresight?

I agree. I've used that method on all the semi-autos I've ever owned. I don't normally modify a firearm for my "lefty-ness" I just try to figure out an efficient way to use what's there. And I train, train, train.

Concealed Carry Corner: What To Do Around Police

I totally agree(Texas police never being an issue.). I've been back in Texas(where I grew up) since 2021 and the few times I've encountered law enforcement they have been very nice. Back when I lived in Arkansas the father of one of a martial arts student I trained once in a while was an...

My Unpopular Opinion: Don’t Customize Your Gun

I added a 2 point sling to the Ruger AR 556 I recently got. I had the sling laying around from one of the old hunting rifles I no longer have. The sling seems of good quality and it makes the Ruger easier to carry. I am a fan of rifle slings and most of my rifles have them in the past. I don't...

    More teen mob violence.

Yes sir. I was a Marine stationed (permanent personnel on MCRD in San Diego, '78-'79). We were at Mission Beach on a Sunday afternoon and had a problem with some bikers. We held our own and didn't get banged up too badly. Marines in Camp Pendleton heard about it and came down to help out the...

    Feral packs of humans

I'm a white guy adopted and raised by a Mexican-American family since I was 1.5. I'm the youngest and the only one who was adopted. My parents went out of their way to make me feel like I was part of the family including whoopings when needed. My parents knew who my friends were(Hispanic and...

My Unpopular Opinion: Don’t Customize Your Gun

I'm with you on this. As I quickly approach 65 years young, I "usually" prefer function over form. I enjoy looking at different firearms and accessories but I prefer to keep my carry tools stock for the most part. I think there are some accessories that can dramatically improve your ability to...
