    Buying a new car/truck?

Or eight years and 6 months from now, when his BIG battery is dead and needs replacing! I shudder at the cost of that...an all electric Nissan battery was 21 grand! I personally wrote the check for $4000 plus for a Prius battery, and the hybrid batteries are a lot cheaper. I wonder if these "go...

    What Makes a Backpack Tactical?

Here in this college town where I live, to me "tactical" means "looks like every other weed smoking backpack wearing hippie infesting this town". So my "tactical" backpack looks 'normal' for this area, but has a ballistic plate in the laptop pocket and other novelties to make sure I can get home.

    Buying a new car/truck?

That is where I keep looping back...F150 5.0 4X4 Super Crew Cab. It has more room inside than many cars. It would be, under my tutelage, perhaps the most under stressed vehicle I have ever owned or indeed ever even heard of. I choke on the price, but I suppose this is where we are now. Like the...

    Buying a new car/truck?

Car and Driver magazine article 2016: long term test of a Porsche Cayman S. After 40,000 miles, performing routine scheduled maintenance cost $3094. For comparison, the highest performing American Car, practically a race car nowadays, the mighty Corvette in scheduled maintenance over 40,000...

The Armory Life Interviews Heirloom Precision's Jason Burton

I like the fact he is so young. We have lost too many artists in the recent past, it is encouraging to see the next wave with so much talent.

    What Is a Paddle Holster?

They don't work for me. Inside the waistband is the only way I can hide anything at a towering five foot five. Every one I have tried has stuck out way too much. I avoid the take on/put off question with my lifestyle...always on.

    Buying a new car/truck?

So playing with the build and price features since I can't sleep. Toyota is out. Already dropped the V6 apparently. Boo Hiss! Ford with a Super Crew Cab (very car like) and a short bed with a 5.0 V8 engine is $57,000 with the exact model on my local dealers lot. Honda Passport with a V6 and all...

Classic car enthusiasts step right in

A great deal of my misspent youth was misspent in a 1971 GTO convertible, Nassau Blue, that belonged to one of my best friends. I still love that car.

    Buying a new car/truck?

I admit I lean towards used. My wife is a buy new, maintain it and in ten or so years when it is time for a new one, give the old car to someone in her family and buy another new. So I suspect I will end up with new because I pick my battles and if she wants to win that one it is not really too...

    Buying a new car/truck?

I stand corrected! I forgot about the Desoto Firedome (great name) and the Imperial Firepower (even better name)! My old man used to drive an Imperial. Because he said "You can't outrun the State Patrol without a 440 Chrysler". He was kidding of course, but it made an impression on me.

    Buying a new car/truck?

I am a little leery of turbo's and the complexity they bring. Admittedly, Buick T-Type in the 90's and the aforementioned Mercedes are all the practical "ownership" experience I have had...I didn't own them, but my two best friends did so I was around them a lot and drove them a lot. I know...

Classic car enthusiasts step right in

Modern cars offer way more capability than can safely be used on the street. Which is kinda why I am stuck in the 60's in terms of fun cars. They slide around and make all the right sounds and you feel like you are flying, then you look down and you are doing 45 mph. Safe as sitting on a sofa.

    Buying a new car/truck?

Had to look up DEF. See previous entry about never trust a politician. When the 2005 new body style Mustangs came out I knew a girl that had one; V6 with an automatic. Would leave my 67 Mustang with a 289 and three at the knee in the dust. I appreciate V6 technology. An honest 300 HP on the...

    Buying a new car/truck?

Don't know much about diesels outside of a couple of Mercedes diesels, one turbo one without, back in the 80's-90's. They were long milage machines, both in terms of range and longevity. However, for a long term plan that may be the really smart play. Diesel haulers will be around longer than...

    Buying a new car/truck?

I should have said "I am looking for an automatic". Not right now...but my bad knee is making itself known now and I am thinking in the future I may have to have an automatic. That Hemi is a honorable successor to the 426 made justifiably famous in the 60's-70's. It is a monster!

    Buying a new car/truck?

Biden's gas mileage requirements took a lot of capable V6 sedans off the market. My wife had a Prius when I met her, and it was a great car but the big battery has an "end date" and when we hit it a replacement battery was $4000 plus. I am retired, so gas mileage is not really a concern because...

Classic car enthusiasts step right in

Modern V8 rear wheel drive land yachts have a surprising amount of appeal. The engines are smaller than the 60's for sure, but the modern chassis can put all the power to the ground. And the ride on the highway is smooth and quiet. I still daily drive my wife's cast off Honda Civic Si, but 201...

In the Leave It To Beaver world in my head that was the first thing I thought of. But in the real world, it was probably some crackhead that stole a coin collection.

    Strange Change

If you got those as change, it means some kid found his dads coin collection and spent it on candy at the convenience store and the brain dead clerk missed it!
