    Marine sentenced to 7 years

I've been TDY to Okinawa several times. The Japanese have been trying to get rid of at least some of our forces for years. I was talking to a USAF investigator at length one time, and this particular case is mild compared to others on the island; same thing in Korea, too.

Why you shouldn't share military secrets with Congress.

I mentioned a while back that I knew a few people who were involved with the Son Tay raid and maintained a newspaper reporter took a picture of the mock up camp in the states and published it, which tipped off the NVA to move the prisoners.

BREAKING: President Trump says Israel and Iran have agreed to a "complete and total ceasefire" in the coming hours.

IMO this has regional implications for the good. I think Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in the Gaza strip, and the Houthis in Yemen have just lost their sponsor. At least that should be the case in any permanent cease fire deal and I don't think Trump would ignore that aspect. Praying for a...

U.S. Strikes three Iranian Nuclear Sites

You're correct. Most radiation injuries are due to exposure to gamma radiation (nonparticulate, that is pure energy photons as are X-Rays). It is highly penetrating and exposure is cumulative. That is, if you receive a low dose say of 5 centi- Grays (old units rad) this year and next year you...

U.S. Strikes three Iranian Nuclear Sites

No problem. Further info on plutonium and uranium is that they are alpha emitters which is a helium nucleus. Very low penetrating; a piece of paper stops these particles. No harm except if one internalizes the material. This is what happened to Alexander Litvinenko, a Russian defector in...

U.S. Strikes three Iranian Nuclear Sites

Not to downplay this scenario, but plutonium and uranium make lousy dirty bombs and acquiring these elements is highly complex. There are more suitable substances in our hospitals, industrial sites, etc. which are easier to obtain and use.

U.S. Strikes three Iranian Nuclear Sites

That reminds me. Who shipped around 87 tons of uranium to Iran in Dec 2007 to Jan 2008? Umm, could it have been Putin? It was for ostensibly the Bushehr power reactor which never manged to recoup the investment to generate power. The Russian VVER 1000 was shoehorned into a West German...

U.S. Strikes three Iranian Nuclear Sites

Yes, and remember a nuclear program has several stages. Of note, prior to OIF, the IAEA never gave Saddam a clean bill of health for his nuclear program despite media accounts they did.

U.S. Strikes three Iranian Nuclear Sites

I can speak from first hand, though dated knowledge. Gabbard read a typical massaged assessment similar to over 15 years ago. This assessment mind you, is approved by the 17 intelligence agencies with their own ax to grind. These agencies ancient analysis was designed to promote Obama's deal...

    8-inch Howie still on Watch

The same chassis was also used for the Light Recovery Vehicle, M578, or the VTR as we called it.

    8-inch Howie still on Watch

I would add that they also stood watch at the Hof Gap during the Cold War. In the later stages of the First Gulf War, we had an entire M110 (43 caliber) battalion supporting our cav squadron moving into the Euphrates River valley.

Israel launches Airstrikes Aganst Iranian nuclear sites.

Had a glitch. Meant to say she is naive and will get played by the 17 or so agencies under the ODNI umbrella. Just because she was in the ARNG, was a congress critter, and made a trip to Syria does not give her the acumen to smell a home grown rat. I wanted Ric Grenell to assume the post...

Israel launches Airstrikes Aganst Iranian nuclear sites.

I can speak of this first hand although my experience is from 2008 to 2013. Tulsi was given an assessment which has a history going back to 2007. My agency basically operated a sliding scale with the time to build a bomb in six months. Then when six months passed, it was another six months...

The overlooked Army division that held off the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge

Eons ago there was and additional story about the 28th. There was a Captain and a few soldiers of the 28th who melted into the woods and gathered up more stragglers and formed a guerrilla band. They took a while to get their act together, but eventually German units started noticing their...

Douglas A-26 Invader: The Modular Attack Plane

My college roomie's Dad flew A-26s out of northern Italy in late WWII. This could be one of those "there I was at 20,000 feet" stories, he told me his Dad's group was flying north into Germany and FW 190s attempted to intercept. The way he told it was the Invader was very fast and for German...
