I've been TDY to Okinawa several times. The Japanese have been trying to get rid of at least some of our forces for years. I was talking to a USAF investigator at length one time, and this particular case is mild compared to others on the island; same thing in Korea, too.

Like posted above, if he did do it then he got what he deserved. He claims he's innocent and probably hopes being military will say his butt.

If he was guilty the Corps should bust his butt AFTEr he gets out of Japanese prison.. Frankly, I think the US should have Kept Okinawa at the end of WW2. Lord knows it was bought at a high price in American blood. Civilian should have been removed to the other islands and the whole island made a US military reservation.
