OK now I have a minute. OSI worked a country wide organized corruption case involving all the on base clubs in Thailand in the early 70's. Goods and services and service workers came mostly from local sources. The clubs on all 7 bases were managed by senior NCO's. The Nak Ling Sua, the Thai...

Is the 1911 the Ideal Woods Gun?

I have a SIG P220 10mm that is one accurate beast, but also a heavy beast to carry. Good news is it soaks up recoil. I hear good things about the SA Ronin 1911 but I don't own one in my lineup

Flying F-4 Reconnaissance Phantoms Unarmed And Unafraid In Desert Storm

I was assigned to Udorn RTAFB in 1970, home of the 432nd TRW, that did most of the aerial recon in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam war. Air America was also based there. The wing flew RF4C aircraft. I was astounded to learn they were unarmed. It was a mad dash when the RF 4C's landed to...

From G36 to G95 - Germany’s New Service Rifle Arrives

Ceracote Gen II was developed to lower the IR and heat signature of small arms. I don't know if color matters other than certain colors reducing daylight visibility.

First M16 Rifles in the Vietnam War

Agreed! He was a gun guy for sure. I did many protection details in OSI in the 70's. Gen LeMay would show up at various functions. We were briefed that he was always armed with his 1911 and that if anything happened he would probably pull it and get in the fight.
