Jeff Cooper's Color Code for Survival

Great article. Thanks for sharing. I noticed - look how hig on his strong-side that 1911 is. I wonder what holster he’s wearing.

    Anyone carry TWO?

When I was in law school many years ago, one of my classmates worked at a car wash for beer and poker money. He sat at a desk during most of his shift. It was a self-serve carwash, not the full-blown automated ones we have on what seems like every street corner nowadays. Anyway, I'll just...

Reloading Manual Data (Conflicts and Agreements)

Ahhhhh... that west Texas wind .... Let me tell you a short story, there was a guy in Texas named Harold Broughton. Harold was a Predator control officer for one of those small Texas counties for years. Later on in his life, he became involved in barrel making and Benchrest shooting. Harold...

How do you handle SCAM calls

Not sure about the zombie part, but today's cell phones are an amazing piece of technology with a lot of uses beyond talking to one another .... I even use the flashlight on mine and no longer carry a flashlight as part of my EDC kit. Whodathunk of the light was a smart fella.

    Kinda windy here ……

Ya, it seems windy these years. Storms more intense ... IDK. I don't remember this 20 years ago. I will say that naming winter storms as if it were a hurricane is silly. No blizzard can compare to the devastation and interruptions a hurricane can cause.

How do you handle SCAM calls

In today's world, why not use your cell phone for that? It comes standard with voice mail. And if you have an iphone, you can screen calls and messages.

Philadelphia Becomes the Latest City to Sue Glock

I think the striker fired pistol design is the best advance in combat pistols in a very long time, Glock just led the way. The fact is that when you ask the question "what does X do that is markedly better than the Glock the answer is.. Nothing. Performance matters, and when it comes to actual...

Philadelphia Becomes the Latest City to Sue Glock

We could engage in on-going discussion about this. I can tell you it starts with the local legislators. You want court reform? Pass sensible laws, not a lot of that going on across the country today, leaving legislation from the bench (ie, what every calls an "activist" judge/court).

How do you handle SCAM calls

I don't exactly how this works, but my iPhone (haven't had a land line in years) will not ring if the number is not in my contacts. Problem with spam solved! If a message is left, I'll listen to it, but spam callers rarely leave messages. If its a text, my phone kicks that over to another...

Philadelphia Becomes the Latest City to Sue Glock

It’s a civil case, thus a very low burden of proof and it’s based on deceptive advertising, whatever that states laws think that is and case law supports. If we need tort reform in this country, this might be a much better place to start than medical malpractice.

    The truth about synthetic oils?

I use synthetic and not “blends.” Also religiously change my oil at 3000-3500 miles in my vehicles. Could probably got to 5k miles and not lose any sleep over it. I’m sold. It’s cheap insurance to change your oil.

Reloading Manual Data (Conflicts and Agreements)

This. I shot benchrest from 87 to about 94. Due to some life changes I got out of BR, but still kept shooting until about the early 2000s, and then I took my sabbatical from all things shooting and reloading. When I got back into things, I’d felt like Rip van Winkle waking from a deep sleep. A...

Reloading Manual Data (Conflicts and Agreements)

Not really. Powder differs lot to lot. Like gasoline. That octane and your MPG might vary a bit from tank(bottle) to tank(bottle). I try to buy powder in 8gal jugs if I can. Cheaper that way. Same lot too. I tend to go off what the powder manufacturer suggests, then might cross check with a...

Self-Defense While Hunting: What Handgun Should You Carry?

(somewhat off-topic) Sent to me late last night by a friend: (bison v Glock) https://www.alaskasnewssource.com/2026/03/12/that-was-my-last-resort-iditarod-rookie-recounts-frantic-bison-encounter-trail/ btw, he’s a serious revolver guy, FOMO struck so he bought a G20 because everyone said he...

Diagnosing Inaccuracies: Is It You or Your Gun?

I don’t know that I have high expectations of any handgun. It’s a tool to help me fight my way back to my long gun, so I use it with limitations in mind.

Self-Defense While Hunting: What Handgun Should You Carry?

I know some folks that lived in Alaska. They carried bells around their necks and on their shoe laces as bear deterrent. The noise would ensure any bears in the area were not surprised. They never did encounter any bears, so maybe it worked.

Make sure to seat your primers

There is that saying that applies to lawn services and reloading equally .... You can only have it one way - you can have it fast; you can heave it cheap or you can have it right. One reason I avoid progressive presses and those fancy primer tube feeder thingamabobs.
