If we only would have known

I got my C&R in 1993…I remember Finn M39s 3 for$99. Turkish Mauser with bayonet for $20.00 each and Austrian M95s for $15 each. Same for Italian M91s.. Many sold off…kids not interested…so keep a few because they are of interest to me.

Teach your family to be careful of strangers - Stranger Danger !

Likewise. A condo north of Tucson for the winters and a house in S. Utah for the rest of the year. Both were chosen for security and safety. Both have proven to be good choices. Tucson, especially S. Tucson, is a risky place to be. From experience in L.A.,, even when living 35 miles due...

Ayoob: Will Carrying a 10mm Hang You in Court?

Patrol usually takes the initial report at time of the incident. Detectives then get the case and can take further testimony. Depending on their caseload that can take time. Never worked Homicide, but as a Robbery detective, every morning I would arrive to find 5-6 new priority cases to handle.

Ayoob: Will Carrying a 10mm Hang You in Court?

It all comes down to how the report was written. As a cop, I always tried to get the details down, as I was taught in 1971. The initial report can either exonerate or convict someone, i.e., That SOB deserved to die…As I had an adverse reaction to criminals, I always tried to get the shooter to...

Do You Carry While Doing Yard Work?

In the Nam, the common joke was when you got back stateside, first 5hing you was gonna do was dig a bunker in your front yard, and enclose the yard on barbed tape. Maybe a few claymores. Now it seems like a good idea more than a joke!

Manurhin MR73 Revolvers – Available Again Through Beretta

I tend to prefer Colts…pair of Trooper Mk IIIs, 357 and .22. Official Police, Pocket Positive, etc. Owned a Python for a while, bought it off a member of the Camp Pendleton shooting team in 1968. Or rather, traded a NIB Smith 10. He was retiring and didn’t want to carry it. Sold it to my...

What are you doing right now??

Watching Dragnet reruns. Being a retired LAPD Detective, starting in 1971, nice to relive my memories, although I do NOT remember having all the time they had to work each case. Next is Adam 12, so I can relive my early days in Patrol! As a Policeman.

What Ammo Types Do You Really Need for When the SHTF

    Chump change…how about a 175 ( OK…I am old school), or an 8-inch projo. I was a red leg. Or, as I was also a Naval Gunfire Spot officer, a 5”54, 8”55 or 16”50.

    Sign of the Times

Smallish Utah town I reside in had a local paper. Then Gannett bought them out, fired the editor and changed to a very left wing paper. Only folks now subscribing are recent ex-Californians. They stopped delivering, using mail and now want to be online only. Expect to see them close up shop...
